as the world falls down (falling)

good morning. opted out of sleep until this weekend when I a) have gone to the clinic and ruled out mono or some other crazy-ass thingamacrap, and b) can experiment with my alarm clock without fucking shit up. Marie is a sweetheart of a roomie; she briefed me on going into the clinic (because I hatehatepassionatelyHATE and am TERRIFIED OF going places / doing things without a step-by-step this-is-what-will-happen) and promised that if I did fall asleep and was still asleep at 8:30, she'd wake me up.

so, instead of sleeping, I was completely unproductive and made icons that are not gift icons (I also abused [livejournal.com profile] silverjet747 and her classical lit paper, but that's business as usual). said icons basically sum up my take on P&P3, which was, "not handsome enough to tempt me," and are free to any good, loving, appropriately Jane-snarky home.

more snarky P&P3cons may or may not occur in the future.
also probably iconnage fangirling Dame Judi Dench's Lady Catherine de Bourg. because she (and the Janeite compulsion, admittedly) is the only reason I want to see the movie again. OMG JUDI DENCH!! [/flail]

you know the drill. comment, credit, don't alter. much love.

ahhh, feel better! *sends hugs and cookies and norry*
I still need to see that movie, but I'm so worried that it will mess with the goodness that is the A&E version. :S
Because you can't beat Colin Firth. Not even with a stick.

[identity profile] meletor-et-al.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
nothing, and I do mean nothing can beat '95 with Firth.

I really... am still not enthusiastic about this movie. the cinematography was awkward, and ... the whole thing was just ... didn't have the Austen feel.

Lady C De B rocked, though. as you can see from my icon.

Yeah, I wasn't particularly impressed with the new film. I could rant for hours, so I'll just agree with what you said. And add that Wickham was so not dashing it wasn't even funny. *sulks* *runs off to watch A&E version*

[identity profile] meletor-et-al.livejournal.com 2005-12-11 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
I thought Wickham was very pretty.

...not dashing in the slightest, you're right. are you *sure* he wasn't the real Lizzie B.? he might've done a better job of it that Keira... .::ducks::.

*g*

are you *sure* he wasn't the real Lizzie B.?

Heh, that would be funny. Funnier than the film, which left out most of the good dialogue. My main objection to it is that it made it seem like Darcy and Elizabeth were in love from the beginning, which is WRONG! It wasn't snarky at all!

And I'm going to stop ranting now. =)

[identity profile] meletor-et-al.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
oh gods, Keira's Lizzie was so desperate for Darcy I HATED it. giggly!Lizzie? with the tee-hee-hee and oh lord the eyelashes... what crack were these people on? 'cos I mean, I'd ask for some, because it seems to be really mind-bending stuff, but I'm afraid it would make me see all Austen this way and that, well, that might require a certain degree of autodefenestration.

.::runs into the protective embrace of endearingly bitchy and properly portrayed C De B::. ... .::oh, and I wouldn't say no to some Colin Firth *g*::.

[identity profile] ladyhamilton.livejournal.com 2005-12-14 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, their definition of 'witty' seemed to be 'laughs a lot'. *eyeroll* Heh, you said autodefenestration! I remember that word from your Easter story. =)

The costumes were weird too... from some sort of amorphous era spanning two decades. And the Bennet's house was a farm! They're not that poor! Meh.

At least I've found someone to bitch with. None of my friends understand how bad this film is. *sigh*
