is it moderately unsettling to anyone else that the sound of canonfire drains the tension right out of me [1] better than any tranquil music?

Oh, I know what you mean. :D It's not unsettling at all. For example, I can drive better when I'm listening to high speed power metal. ;) My mother never understands that.

Also, the sound of cannon fire is beautiful. Ships back then would have needed people like you to keep calm during an attack. :D
