God Bless the Age of Exploration

This site here has a great selection of period maps -- you know, the old kind where the countries look all funky and you have no idea what the names are nowadays -- and it's quite user-friendly. AFAIK there's no way to search for maps from a given timeframe, but I've only been poking around there for 20 minutes or so. Keyword search would probably work, I guess.

Anyhow, before I head for home, just thought this was a cool thing to share, as I've been getting muchly questioned recently as to whether I know where people could find maps as they were seen then.

V. cool!

I found a couple of cool sites for maps when I was looking a month or so ago... I'll have to try & re-find them. I may have to ask my father-in-law if he knows of any good online resources as well, since he collects old maps (I think it's 17th century UK maps he collects, I can't quite remember - but his wife collects them as well, they have them displayed all over their house *squee* I even found where I used to work marked on one of them when we were there as it's an old coaching inn *bounce*) Anyway, yeah. Maps :-) *drool*
