who, me? bandom?

so, anyone who wants to throw canon at me regarding the Summer of Like is totally ... please do. because writing without solid canon knowledge is kind of scary, and even though I've been all over YouTube the past couple days, I still don't have anything concrete. so I'm turning to my flist.

please help. do it for Mikey.

eeee!

I started classes today!

daddy deposited my Hatch paycheck into my account!

I don't have another class until Monday!

I have a job as assistant audio tech at the music performance building!

following the chain of good, I also have undeniable proof of Jon/Spencer )

the doting! the face flick! the LOOKING RIGHT AT JON AND SAYING DIRTY THINGS ABOUT UNDERWEAR. AND SMIRKING. Spencer Smith is an evil pretty boy.

and Ryan wishes he were a punk rocker with flowers in his hair. ♥

on tilting at windmills and momentary altrusitic navel-gazing

changed my default icon; I'd been thinking about it for a while. the fact that I really miss my ACS job right now is what pushed me over. rather selfishly, I miss the sense of purpose and do-gooding it gave me. less selfishly, I honestly do miss that do-gooding, the opportunity to help where I know help was needed, and the handful of people each night who shared their survival stories with me, or even their treatment woes, their grief, the ways in which cancer has touched their lives. every time, I felt honored to be let into their lives that little bit, for those few moments; the success stories gave me heart, and each time one of the not-so-success-stories said goodbye with a voice that was just a tiny bit lighter than it had been when they picked up, I felt like the world might be moving in the right direction for once, in spite of everything. I also miss my cornermates. I miss our list of silly names. I miss the square of paper with "Jill Batman" scribbled on it that I kept tacked up on my wall, because seriously, my coworker called a Jill Batman.

and oh, by the way, I'm at school now. arrived safely yesterday afternoon. start classes on Thursday. we'll see how the rest of it goes.

oh my god it's a friends cut post

I just wrote a long thing, and then I deleted it. mostly because it DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. uh.

so here I'm trying again -- open letter. okay.

lollerskates!

two things which amuse me far too much for me to keep pretending that they don't:

1-
THIS VIDEO.

Fall Out Boy's "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'"

... VAMPIRE PETE. NARRATOR PATRICK. WITH HIS CASEFILES, AND HIS CELLPHONE. AND LEGGY, TEA-DRINKING EVIL VAMPIRE BECKETT, AND THE TEENY DANCING PANIC! VAMPIRES AND. JUST. OH. ♥

2-
THIS SONG ([livejournal.com profile] __dtrain please don't, like, disown me or anything. I love you).
My Chemical Romance's "Headfirst for Halos"

IT MAKES ME BOUNCE AROUND. EVERY TIME. I CAN'T HELP IT. PEOPLE LOOK AT ME FUNNY AT WORK. HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO LISTEN TO THIS SONG AND NOT JUMP UP AND DOWN??? I TRULY DON'T KNOW.

ION, mama bought us HP7 in exchange for me sacrificing my well-being for three hours tonight to paint childrens' faces at a church picnic. basically, like EVERYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET, until I finish reading that I will not be muddling around LJ -- not because all my time will be dedicated to reading, but more because I do not want anything remotely resembling a spoiler to happen to me. anything. at all. so, yes.

!!!!

god, summer is moving fucking fast! SLOW DOWN. SLOOOOOW DOWNNNNNN.

this coming Wednesday is the Chicago stop on The Decemberists' "A Bit of Grass-Stain Does Not a Ruined Pair of Jeans Make" outdoor orchestral tour, and admission is free. I'd like to go down in the morning, ish, and make a picnic of it -- the concert starts at 6:30 but, well, it's free and it's in fucking Grant Park; no way am I not going to stake out considerably early. I mean, picnic! yes! though, also, there's the part where I may be able to squeeze in a Lush stop. poooossibly.

so, okay, point being? WHO'S WITH ME? I know it's late notice. that's because I'm a slacker. but seriously, guys? Wednesday July 18? pleeeease? my sister and maybe her girlfriend are coming, but if it's just the three of us then there's the whole third-wheel syndrome where they just sit around canoodling and talking about WOW and I'm going "... um."

in conclusion, DECEMBERISTS. GRANT PARK. FREE.

YES.

(we'd catch the metra from Kenosha down to Ogilvie Station, and that costs like. six or ten or twelve bucks or something.)

an illustrated story about how 7-7-7 ROCKED for me!

[so the thing is that these pictures were all SO bad that the idea of cropping and mucking with them for a post was getting me all overwhelmed and cranky. which, I mean, a squee post should not be about crankiness, at all. so. YOU GUYS, THESE PICTURES KIND OF SUCK. they do. but I ♥ them, and I totally said I'd make a picture post. so here's a picture post.]

on Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] bipagan and [livejournal.com profile] fairestcat and I went to Summerfest to see Panic! at the Disco with Gym Class Heroes, The Academy Is ..., and The Hush Sound. and it was just. OMG. fangirl bonding, and sunscreen smearing, and ass grabbing (well okay it was more of a passing grope), and perving peoplewatching and just. EEE. AND THEN, YOU KNOW, THE WHOLE CONCERT THING. WHICH ROCKED.

here are some pictures )

so that's the end of the pictures. and my brain. [livejournal.com profile] bipagan and [livejournal.com profile] fairestcat, watch this space for uploads of the pictures .zip and Alpha Rev and the Panic! iTunes sessions ♥

everyone else -- or, well, some of you, at least -- watch this space for the stupid little comment-ficlet thing I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] fairestcat.

gaaaaaaaaaaah I need to either go back in time and do it all again (not for doing anything different! just for FUN!), or GO TO SLEEP. um, neither is going to happen, though. :D

DRIVE-BY THING-POST

because I have to get this posted. no, it's not the best audio quality -- okay, let's be honest here, the audio quality frankly sucks; my poor camera's input mic couldn't handle it -- but YOU GUYS.

IT'S A NEW SONG BY PANIC! AT THE DISCO.

it also cuts off at the end because my camera batteries died. but seriously, that was like split seconds before the closing notes, and YOU GUYS. IT'S A NEW SONG BY PANIC! AT THE DISCO.

I'm gonna be looking for a better version on youtube in the next couple of days. it had fucking well better be there.

finding this icon (by [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse) was the very fucking best thing to happen today.

and it is SO PERTINENT.

(I'm not trying to be cryptic. I just don't feel like assembling a more substantial post.)

state of the meletor? a little blurry.

I've been retardedly on-the-go, and really feeling the loss of my zen necklace (though [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain is spectacular and has ordered me a replacement ♥); all kinds of stressed and un-centered and just ... active-active-active. I'm working at ACS and at the hotel and then studying things like Excel so I can take the proficiency tests I need to and be considered for a desk-job-y placement to cover the hours that I'm currently working at the hotel ... because I'm leaving the hotel. long story.

I'm considering buying an iMac because my laptop is seriously bullshit.

I miss late, lazy mornings and internet time.

I miss school.

I miss YOU.

it's true.

tomorrow, [livejournal.com profile] jobiegirl6 and I are going to SUMMERFEST! we are going to see The Graduate, and Jack's Mannequin, and depending on when we get there probably also Truth in Fiction, and maybe even some of The Forecast! or the opening ceremonies at the Miller stage. idunno. Annie, what do you think?

... holy Moses I have a headache. who is not surprised?

GO US!

as of last night, our teensy little 18-person call center in Pewaukee has raised over 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS for the Midwest Division of the American Cancer Society. and I am glowingly proud to say a) I love my team and my job, and b) roughly $10-20K of that, at least, is me.

because cancer is a bitch, you guys.

but together, we can kick its ass.

(ps this mood has NEVER BEEN SO TRUE)

(pps I need a pink ribbon icon or something. NOTE TO SELF: DO THAT)

warning: my layperson's description of replicators is REALLY BAD

[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: also, because [my family are] GEEKS, we're now having the "if a replicator (from Star Trek) were to drop down in front of you right now, what would be the first thing you'd replicate?" conversation
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: replicate?
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: yes. a replicator replicates things. [commonly] food.
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: so you ask for, say, banana pancakes. and there's a sparkliness, and a plate of banana pancakes is there for you in the replicator
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: :D
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: ...does it work with people? cause um. I would replicate you and jared and a pair of handcuffs.
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH <3

also? STANDOFF IS ON! but I already missed the start, so I'm just gonna watch it on FOX' website tomorrow. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ([livejournal.com profile] dsudis you bitch who totally got me hooked. I need to get back to work on that crossover fic).

the incredible boringness of my life. chronicled?

so, there's a boy at the ACS!job who looks exactly like a somewhat smaller, younger, carelessly-coiffed version of Tomo Milicevic. especially when he forgets to shave. and now that we've gotten past the awkward stage of him hitting on me and me saying "um, girlfriend. sorry," and him staring at my ass, we were actually able to have a conversation tonight, wherein we discovered (via my Twilight in the Fearful Forest tour tee) a common love of The Decemberists. woo! he was horribly saddened to have missed them at the Pabst. poor kid.

... um, that is pretty much all I had to say. or at least, all I had to say that I can now remember. I've dyed my hair again, recently, but it's boring now. so that's not news. and I've gotten my replacement hard drive, but have no guarantees on when the papa will actually get it into my laptop, so that's not really news either.

yep.

I have 111 icon spaces now and no idea what to put in them. oops.

[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: ahahahahahahahhahahahhaaaa noessss
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: that's just. you know. like something out of queer as folk.
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: DUDE OMG IS THAT OUR LIFE?! WE ROCK!

you want context? fine. [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain dared me to dare her to shove an entire medium-to-large-sized garden tomato in her mouth.

it was pretty impressive, actually.

it's like a vulcan mind-meld ... only ... with my snot.

[livejournal.com profile] jobiegirl6's new car = THE BEST EVER. how often do you get to say, "I rode Colby topless topless Colby. ON THE FREEWAY."?* mmmmmmhm.

ION, [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain, let this be documentation of one time when our freaky brainshare thing JUST DID NOT WORK. I'm sitting here all hyped up on a can of red bull and full of stupid babble and you are nowhere to be found. OTOH, you've neatly avoided some pretty stupid babble, and are probably (hopefully) getting some much-needed sleep. XD

*probably about as often as you get to say, "and then we played cards with a bar-crawling zombie named Rick." btw, and then we played cards with a bar-crawling zombie named Rick. IT WAS AWESOME.

just a few minutes ago, I looked behind me to see one of the most adorable things ever -- our bichon-poo napping with the stuffed alligator [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain gave me a year ago (I'd left it on the couch this morning).
