variations on a theme

Dear diary,

Today, I slept all day.
It was good.

I did wake up enough somewhere in the middle to natter at Ell, Tigg, and Vivs, as well as pick up lunch (today was a good day for vegetable soup), then started Operation: Clear Off Harddrive burning and went back to bed.

Woke up again in time for dinner, pleased myself by having a nice, conservatively-sized meal (small cup of lentil soup; single slice of tomato, basil, and mozzarella pizza; small piece of carrot cake), wrote exactly one line of the ficathon, then went back to the dorm and since then have been mostly file-wrangling.

I'm not even going to say that I hope to finish the ficathon piece tonight, because it is not going to happen.

Oh, I also managed to snatch some irish creme coffee at dinner before everyone else ran off with it. I am as a result quite content.

and we all say, oh! well I never! was there ever / a cat so clever as

here again we see the Meletor Property of LiveJournal posting -- the degree of the post is inversely proportional to the degree and quantity of excitement:

-George and I are going to the Maine Maritime Museum on Sunday

-Batman Begins dvd(s -- it's the 2-disc deluxe ed.) came in from Amazon

-Got a B+ on my queer history midterm paper, which actually has me pretty reassured

-Bowdoin also kicks chicken mole' poblano's ass, which is a nice thing, as I am a whore for a good mole' poblano and haven't had such in a while

-the pho was freakishly bad, though. I may just have qualms with their wheaty tofu.

in closing, I have two things to say.

1: TONIGHT IS NOT A NIGHT FOR CRACK AND KITTEN NEEDS TO GET OUT OF MY HEAD
2: I STILL FIND IT RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME HOW MANY OF THOSE BAT-THINGS THEY MADE HAPPEN FOR REAL

thxbye, guys and dolls.

1)Go to Google
2) Type in failure
3) Press the 'I'm feeling lucky' button (instead of the google search one)
4) Laugh

Seriously. Before Google fixes this. Do it.

whoah, that's a lot of dorkdom.

This is totally [livejournal.com profile] benvolio_daemon making my life difficult by giving me Stupid Things to Do. All this. Posted in roughly chronoligical order according to their creation.

A Whole Bunch of Candybar Dolls -- 7 Batman Begins, 6 Breakfast on Pluto

2 Batman Begins...kinda )

6 Breakfast on Pluto, wtf )

AND NOW, BACK TO BATMAN. -related... stuff.

3 more Batman Begins, because Crane dolls are fun )

Then I made another two, Batman Begins, and together they make up my piece de resistance (they also make me more okay with waiting until Thursday for my copy of BB *g*). Are you ready for this?

May Not Be Suitable for Younger Viewers.

I really, really should have been doing my homework... )

Win.

(Both of those were better animated, as per fucking usual. They flirted, damnit, pixel-style! Bah. Still smexy and inappropriate.)

and please believe me when I say I love you

GOD but I have missed this song.

Puddle. Melty puddle. Every time. I remember back when Vivs was the only one in the house with the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, and I'd hear strains of this song from wherever I was in the house, and RUSH into her room, DIVE onto the bed, and just... damn. She laughed at me. Ok, so I have a thing for Bway tenors; who doesn't??

It's still.. he's still... AND THE VIOLIN. the CELLOS.
And his high notes (his ALL notes) will never fail to give me chills.

...I think I'm going to pass out, now, from listening to it too many times on loop and forgetting to breathe / hyperventilating.

[livejournal.com profile] captain_molly YOU SO DID NOT FAIL.

I think I may have just written the UGLIEST SENTENCE EVER.
changes right in the middle to the passive voice and everything.

I don't know whether to be morbidly impressed, or TO VOMIT.

hopefully the rest of this fic will make up for it.

I made a god / out of blood / not superiority

Quaere:

why is it that when I actually write the batficness and hit that Ficcing Wall, there's no-one awake to scan through and say "hey, keep it up"?

...I should expect it, with these two as muses, I really should.

If there's anyone -- literally anyone -- else awake at this hour who wants to read/hopefullyencourage the so-far of my Crane ficathon piece, please let me know please asap please thank you please.

To march in that proud company / Of poets, leaders and each one

found in my bowdoin.edu inbox: )

Dude.
Dude.
So I just e-mailed my Film Noir professor to see if I can get out of the screening for that night. Because even if this isn't a Big Serious Deal, it is a great chance to get some experience.

Other news of the day, I went to the Keep and it was raining. And I was very very dripping wet by the time I got in there. George, strange boy that he is, offers me "a paper towel or something?" while I wring my braid out on the porch. o_O k. Once I got in there and started browsing, though, and he realized I wasn't going to run away screaming, or stab him in the leg, or something, he meandered over and we had a nice chat about various dorky comic things like how Flash fanboys Batman and Frank Miller is scary. And Alfred wins at lifetheuniverseandeverything. Made plans for me to lend him my TAS Vol. 1, and burn them for him when I get a hold of blanks. By the time the rain had stuck me in there a good hour and a half, he was actually Not Totally Rabbitty and Frightened. I think I have mostly the guys to thank for that, through a combination of cracking jokes about trapping me in a meat-locker (do not ask) and the debate over whether Allison Mack or Kristin Kreuk was the better reason to watch Smallville (I put in my vote for Allison Mack, referencing the fact that cardigans just aren't that sexy).

Rain let up, I headed back to the dorm.

MUST FINISH FICATHON BEFORE READING COMICS. Good girl. Now, go to dinner.

2005-10-15 02:28 am

it's vichysoisse, sir. it's supposed to be cold.

beware the impending Batman Returns icon deluge. I tell you this now so that I jinx it for later.

in other news, I went to the dining hall for coffee and dirt cake (gummi worms yay!), and while I was there my FICATHON FIC REROUTED ITSELF. I AM CONFUSED. and I really, really want to have this done by the end of the weekend, so the rerouting is not so much cool.

I think I will finish TDKR (which style is about 20 times awesomer now that I've seen Sin City because I get Frank Miller's art now) and go to the comic store tomorrow, but then not allow myself to actually read any of the new comics until THE FIC IS DONE. OMFG.

that is all.

to quote victor/victoria: bitch, bitch, bitch.

and can I just say it is a wonderful thing hearing Julie Andrews say that? I need to get my hands on that movie again. I do so love it.

...but I have strayed from my original purpose. of whining.

because it is a Friday right 'round noon, and I am bored as a block of wood at a termite convention.

my cd/dvd reader/writer's fab, but I have no blank discs for burning and nothing I care to watch just now.
my Skype's all set, but there's no-one to talk to.
I finally got the B/D out, and I haven't heard a word (well, ok, heard a couple. it was nice *g*).
trillian's hooked up as usual, and there's a striking lack of omg anyone.
I've got time for once to work on my ficathon piece, and the muses aren't budging.
same goes for the airport xover
and Straw Men
and Pygmalion
and all other WIPs.

I think it may be time for The Dark Knight Returns and a bit of a nap.
please ping me, though, on either of the above media, because I would so very much like to hear from you. info's in my info.

we like the frequency with which you dine here, sir

because spamming sorta keeps me awake.

1- I finally made Ducard do 680 words of NOT BEING A TOTALLY SHITTY DEFIANT MUSE.
2- These bluebooks are REALLY TINY. wtf?
3- When I finish this midterm takehome it is totally coasting time. And finishing ficathon piece this weekend!
4- I still need the combined audio of I Was Hoping and the Batman Begins movie just to shut my brain up and keep me going. Attention deficit much?
5- I still smell pot.

MY COFFEE MUG IS GROSS BECAUSE I LEFT IT SITTING HERE ALL WEEK.
Damnit.

Say they (the Big They in the Sky, probably WB)'re making a live-action Batman Beyond movie.*

Who plays Terry?

*They're really not, damnitall, but [livejournal.com profile] wormmonabc got me wondering.

...actually, this is way too much work. i'll post the squee attack when i'm no longer playing this song on loop.

Home again home again, jiggity... aw shit, mans.

All jetways into the gates at the Portland Jetport bear the same banner (and have since I first visited in November '04, and I agreed with it then too): "Welcome Home." Please excuse my happy sigh.

Today's schedule, in (kinda) short, was:
6:00 AM Wake up, pack
7:15 AM Feed dog, leave for park 'n' ride
7:55 AM Catch shuttle coach to O'Hare
10:10 AM Arrive, check in (wait in line, daydream about Red Eye because that's what makes airports not suck, wait more in line)
11:45 AM Get to gate, pull out reading for queer history midterm paper, laugh as people get minor neck injuries trying to make sure they're reading that title right (yes, it's Female Transvestism in Early Modern Europe. but Immodest Acts (The Life of a Lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy) is much dirtier), wonder how so many bajillions of people understand Japanese. whoah. (the flight before mine was to Osaka)
1:10 PM Get on GINORMOUS plane (a 777, dudenesses), sleep through flight
4:15 PM Arrive at Dulles, find gate, pretend to work on midterm, resort to writing crossover!airplane!hitman!porn crazies, forget to pick up food of any sort
7:10 PM Get on TEENYWEENY PUDDLEJUMPER (totally forgot the model, but I know from memory it's the same one that makes the hop from Mitchell Int'l (Milw.) to O'Hare), chat with next-seat neighbour who also owes a Bowdoin midterm tomorrow, sleep through flight when possible (those puddlejumpers are spazzy, yo!)
8:45 PM Arrive at Portland Jetport, call da, meet George, finish call w/ da, get baggage, ride back to campus in George's father's batmobile (*snerk* -- he started it!), have interesting chat in which he pegs me as a Pirates fan without my mentioning a word of it. and then we squee about Paul Bettany.
10:00 PM Arrive HOME, FINALLY, Maine Dorm, Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME

Random accounts of my stay at house, New Berlin, WI will probably pop up after I've battled this paper and the Econ exam and finally finished my ficathon piece and the B/D that I'm apparently on the hook for at [livejournal.com profile] batslash.

sentiment d'escalier: he's the kind of guy who will pick you up in the airport when you've only just called about it that morning, and not say a word about the fact that you're wearing a paint-stained old sweatshirt, messy twice-napped-on hair, and a pair of your brother's baggiest jeans. and then he will lend you a TPB.
