There is a need in me for good Dr Crane fic like there is in *insert good analogy here*, and thank the lord, my addiction has just been supplied :).
Rampant fragments indeed, but they're very very good ones and fit the mood completely. I think it increases that sensation of detachment at the beginning, and as the drabble goes on and becomes more whole, it sucks you into the weakness for fear a little bit as well.
