I'm also nearly fluent in Pittsburghese
Apr. 14th, 2005 10:05 pm( Keep in mind I live in southeast Wisconsin... )
So after today's small mess, I was thoroughly cheered by a lovely tea with the girls of both periods of Jane Austen class. Also in attendance were some mothers, a photographer and writer for the Waukesha Freeman (in which I will be *cough* lightly featured, if the snip-snapping pictures and short interview are anything to go from), and the lovely wonderful Ms. Kim Wilson, author of Tea With Jane Austen. I learned much, and was enthralled. And want a copy of that book. And have her e-mail! (After my research hermitage is done with, I'll be hitting her up for a list of Most Likely and Useful Primary Sources, woot etc etc).
commodorified, you were right and I was right, about tea water temperature. For black tea, the water is supposed to be just-boiling, so that it bubbles as you pour it out. For green tea (which is the sort of tea whose directions I was quoting, as it is what
gambling_pirate drinks and heck, I needn't read the directions to my own tea -- is not green tea; that tastes like grass), the water should be a little below boiling. In no case should it be reboiled, because the oxygen will have gone out and it will be flat. And in neither case ought one 'pour sufficient amounts of saltwater over enough tea and wait for a revolution'. Silly.
I should also add that this evening I was even more cheered by this, love and thankyous to the lovely lovely dear wonderful and did I mention lovely
tiggothy. Ee!
Dorkmeister out.
