Jan. 31st, 2005 09:00 pmFirst of all,
commodorified has been a gem enough to allow me to post a link to her quite genius thoughts on anachronism and accuracy in Age of Sail fic. Do give it a read, because it contains much wisdom.
Second of all, I have three new updates to the birthday tale, a tale that finally concluded yesterday. a: while I was singing at mum's church, my walking lintball of a dog saw fit to clamber up onto the table and polish off a goodly piece of my till-then untouched cake. b: Vivs gave me her gift-- an addition to my DeppVD collection in the form of Don Juan de Marco. Still haven't made time to watch it sincerely, though I had it playing while I was on the phone with
gambling_pirate last night/this wee morning. Looks fascinating. c: One last gift given. Jammie pants, a la Captain Morgan. I ought to photo them some day.
Third of all, a thought from this morning:
tosca87: *looking at the tracklist of -M's new cd courtesy of Em* Jimmy Buffett? Who's Jimmy Buffett?
meletor_et_al: *swallowing laughter and failing* You don't know who Jimmy Buffett is...
tosca87: Well... well, you don't know who Puccini is!
meletor_et_al: Yes I do!
*mass disintegration due to laughter*

Yeah, Meletor, part of the humor of that incident for me anyway is that she's all like "Oooh! Look! Margaritaville!... who's Jimmy Buffett?"
Anyway, in response to the previous comment, Jimmy Buffett was a classic rock musician who wrote the the popular song "Maragaritaville." "Wastin' away again in Margaritaville, Searchin' for my long lost shaker of salt, Some people claim that there's a woman to blame but I know, It's nobody's fault" That one.
