*twirls you* Go you!! I approve of podfic in all their various forms, but EPIC podfic makes me giddy. ;-)
Depending upon what kind of Mac that you have, you might actually already be set up and ready to go. I think just about every Mac after a certain year comes with Garage Band already installed and if you are on a Mac Book, there is a built in microphone. If you don't have Garage Band already installed, Audacity for Macs is all that you need. If you have the software but not the hardware, there are a number of microphones that you can buy that are Mac compatible. The only catch is that you need to make sure that they specify that they are Mac compatible, because I have a microphone that I can't use because it only works with Windows. (And even if you do have a built in mic, if you don't mind spending a few extra bucks to buy an external mic, it might be worth it to get rid of your fan noise) I have more than a few podfic tutorials and tips saved in my delicious.
