*hugs* 'm not surprised you're exhausted - that's what I used to be like at your age, only back in those days we didn't have t'internet (well we didn't in our house anyway...)

Colour thing - I don't do it, but my husband does (he has me in yellowish & gwengothelf in black on a white background.... he says it's useful to distinguish my posts from others' (and Gwen just had to be in black, apparently... you'd understand if you knew her...) Anyway, his friend's page be here. I don't know how much it changes between different layout styles, but on his it seems to just highlight the bit where the username & icon appear rather than the whole post. (I don't think you'll be able to see any examples of how it looks with Gwen's being on black though, as I think her journal may be friend's only...) Hope that's been helpful rambling & not too long-winded of me.
