points of order, the first: tomorrow, wednesday, friday night as of 4 or 5 pm, and probably saturday i will be spending my time at summerfest. should you care to join me (tomorrow until 8 pm entry tickets are only $2! wednesday: the cab, friday: empires!), send me a text or something. i will see you there! woo!

the second: tonight i wandered over to my sister's apartment and we began the Epic Task of rewatching The L Word from s1e1 (fwiw, the last time i watched The L Word was three or four years ago. this time i hope to make it past season 3). six episodes in and this time around I am finding myself identifying most closely with Shane.* as far as levels of Concerning go, this would be considered:

a) mildly so,
b) wholly so,
c) not at all,
or
d) jesus, what?**

*again, this is season 1 Shane as of the end of episode six. also, i don't identify that strongly. just, you know, i see where she's coming from. a lot. and frequently.

I actually think Shane, even/especially s1 Shane, is the most emotionally intelligent one of them all. The way she handles her creepy stalker-type in the first few episodes? That's compassionate yet clear. I don't like that she seems to have this wild reputation just because she sleeps with a lot of people--like, what's the big deal? She's confident and not crazy possessive, which all the other characters are and which is what I find disturbing about all of them. That and their weird bi-, butch-, and trans-phobia. And their snooty classism.

It's in later seasons that I go 'oh god what have they done to shane!?!'
