Morning all
Sep. 22nd, 2005 10:56 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
So, after half an hour of high-volume bullshitting for Women in Religion (if anything can prepare a person for writing 500+ words in a half an hour about something you know only iffily about but have a book sitting in front of you, it's half-assed historical fiction), I figured I should reward myself with a little morning post (you know you're an LJ-whore when...).
ima_pseudonym, I got the cards, and they are fantastic!! I love them all. Much shiny, and pretty, and.... mm. Now I really need to remember to get thumbtacks (and clothespins, and string, and another booklight because the one I got yesterday sucks ass), so I can put them on my tagboard(s)! Yaye!
Which is good, because today we talked about molly houses! (and the development of gay subculture across Europe circa the Enlightenment, but London was really where it was at, so I got to be a BIG GEEK YAY) Technically, our reading was about homosexuality in France at the time. And then in France WRT the good ol' Napoleonic Code. Seriously, there was a minor geeksplosion going on at my corner of the table. I almost DIED.
*cough* Anyway. Mollyhouses. Uhm... my brain's way the hell over >there> right now, but it was some good discussion. I may be able to organize it for history-geek-reference later. Maybe not. Never know. But this has totally, utterly, and completely solidified my theory that I am taking a class on HISTORICAL SLASH. Oh gods it is a beautiful thing.
I decided to cut that because ... I don't know.
Oh, our professor also referenced slash subculture in a 'relating this quasi-ghettoization (his term) phenomenon to today's world' tangent. It was rather amusing, because a third of us twitched and looked around covertly with a little sparkle, and nobody said anything. "Who, me, that? No!" Yay for the 800-pound gorilla.
Aaand, I'm retardedly incapable of focusing. I think I'll just look at my shiny new cards and listen to dorky 70's music (my flist is the best thing ever) until I have to hoof it to Crazy Feminist Ranty-Time.

Date: 2005-09-22 09:35 am (UTC)I too have had that "no one says anything but we were both thinking the same thing" sensation when something slashy was being discussed in an academic setting. It's like... being in a club with a "secret eye-sparkle" or somehing. ;-)
