finding this icon (by [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse) was the very fucking best thing to happen today.

and it is SO PERTINENT.

(I'm not trying to be cryptic. I just don't feel like assembling a more substantial post.)

I've been retardedly on-the-go, and really feeling the loss of my zen necklace (though [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain is spectacular and has ordered me a replacement ♥); all kinds of stressed and un-centered and just ... active-active-active. I'm working at ACS and at the hotel and then studying things like Excel so I can take the proficiency tests I need to and be considered for a desk-job-y placement to cover the hours that I'm currently working at the hotel ... because I'm leaving the hotel. long story.

I'm considering buying an iMac because my laptop is seriously bullshit.

I miss late, lazy mornings and internet time.

I miss school.

I miss YOU.

it's true.

tomorrow, [livejournal.com profile] jobiegirl6 and I are going to SUMMERFEST! we are going to see The Graduate, and Jack's Mannequin, and depending on when we get there probably also Truth in Fiction, and maybe even some of The Forecast! or the opening ceremonies at the Miller stage. idunno. Annie, what do you think?

... holy Moses I have a headache. who is not surprised?

GO US!

as of last night, our teensy little 18-person call center in Pewaukee has raised over 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS for the Midwest Division of the American Cancer Society. and I am glowingly proud to say a) I love my team and my job, and b) roughly $10-20K of that, at least, is me.

because cancer is a bitch, you guys.

but together, we can kick its ass.

(ps this mood has NEVER BEEN SO TRUE)

(pps I need a pink ribbon icon or something. NOTE TO SELF: DO THAT)

[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: also, because [my family are] GEEKS, we're now having the "if a replicator (from Star Trek) were to drop down in front of you right now, what would be the first thing you'd replicate?" conversation
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: replicate?
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: yes. a replicator replicates things. [commonly] food.
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: so you ask for, say, banana pancakes. and there's a sparkliness, and a plate of banana pancakes is there for you in the replicator
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: :D
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: ...does it work with people? cause um. I would replicate you and jared and a pair of handcuffs.
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH <3

also? STANDOFF IS ON! but I already missed the start, so I'm just gonna watch it on FOX' website tomorrow. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ([livejournal.com profile] dsudis you bitch who totally got me hooked. I need to get back to work on that crossover fic).

woo!

I has a laptop. :B

ETA: never you fucking mind. it died again, so we know now that it's internal hardware.

any new laptop recommendations?
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (Northern Exposure: one of those days)
so, there's a boy at the ACS!job who looks exactly like a somewhat smaller, younger, carelessly-coiffed version of Tomo Milicevic. especially when he forgets to shave. and now that we've gotten past the awkward stage of him hitting on me and me saying "um, girlfriend. sorry," and him staring at my ass, we were actually able to have a conversation tonight, wherein we discovered (via my Twilight in the Fearful Forest tour tee) a common love of The Decemberists. woo! he was horribly saddened to have missed them at the Pabst. poor kid.

... um, that is pretty much all I had to say. or at least, all I had to say that I can now remember. I've dyed my hair again, recently, but it's boring now. so that's not news. and I've gotten my replacement hard drive, but have no guarantees on when the papa will actually get it into my laptop, so that's not really news either.

yep.

I have 111 icon spaces now and no idea what to put in them. oops.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (Default)
aaaaand we're right back at it.
[livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al: somehow I think there's something exceptionally weird about "my brother wishes he could suck cock like my lesbian girlfriend"
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: ahahahahahahahhahahahhaaaa noessss
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: that's just. you know. like something out of queer as folk.
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: DUDE OMG IS THAT OUR LIFE?! WE ROCK!

...
you want context? fine. [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain dared me to dare her to shove an entire medium-to-large-sized garden tomato in her mouth.

it was pretty impressive, actually.

[livejournal.com profile] jobiegirl6's new car = THE BEST EVER. how often do you get to say, "I rode Colby topless topless Colby. ON THE FREEWAY."?* mmmmmmhm.

ION, [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain, let this be documentation of one time when our freaky brainshare thing JUST DID NOT WORK. I'm sitting here all hyped up on a can of red bull and full of stupid babble and you are nowhere to be found. OTOH, you've neatly avoided some pretty stupid babble, and are probably (hopefully) getting some much-needed sleep. XD

*probably about as often as you get to say, "and then we played cards with a bar-crawling zombie named Rick." btw, and then we played cards with a bar-crawling zombie named Rick. IT WAS AWESOME.

just a few minutes ago, I looked behind me to see one of the most adorable things ever -- our bichon-poo napping with the stuffed alligator [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain gave me a year ago (I'd left it on the couch this morning).

watched it again tonight, on the UltraScreen no less. loved it. phew!

I mean, there are still obviously some huge sticking-points I have, where my preferences diverge massively from, well, um, what was actually written into the film XD ... and I still cried like a freak. but at least this time through I could actually put together what I was seeing, and figure out how it made a plot and a movie, which is something I couldn't particularly do last night because everything was coming at me so fast.

but, no, yes. I am tired and headachey now, which just basically makes it even harder than usual for me to write a coherent, thoughtful response to a movie, so yeah. not even gonna try. suffice to say, I am feeling quite a bit better about the whole thing.

and, um, also playing with a low-rated cute and angsty little Groves/Norrington thingy

so I picked up a preliminary schedule booklet for Summerfest on the way out of the hotel, and ...

something tells me I'm going to be wasting a lot of time and money there this year. yay! but what I need, though, is a Summerfest Buddy (or a couple, yanno) because it's just kind of shit to go alone. yeah? so, let me know on that. I know I have all of, like ... I could count all my Milwaukee-area flisters on one hand. but still. THE WHINING WILL CONTINUE UNTIL YOU AGREE TO KEEP ME ENTERTAINED. YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT.

possible plan: the two Marcus Amphitheater shows I'm looking at hitting are The Fray with Ok Go and Mae on Saturday, June 30, and Panic! at the Disco with Gym Class Heroes, The Academy Is ... , and The Hush Sound on Saturday, July 7. so those are nicely spaced out.

the rest of it is going to be spent wandering around the US Cellular stage (yay FM 102/1!) and the Miller Oasis. probably. though the Global Groove stage can be fun *g*

I'm also seeing a lot of tinfoil-wrapped cold sandwiches and water bottles smuggled in tote bags.

WHO'S WITH ME?

speaking of going places and doing things with people, PIRATES 3 TONIGHT! I'M KIND OF EXCITED AND KIND OF FRIGHTENED.

*squee!!*

[or, god damn it what just happened to my header image?]

so, for those of you keeping score at home, that's:

Imageshack - 0
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain, aka supergirlfriend - 1

themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (Supernatural: Dean w/ nuts)
... by doing exactly the same thing I've been doing over and over since it died. that is, resetting it. so, I'm a bit confused ... but happy!

seriously, dad and I were at The UPS Store shipping my iPod and my harddrive, both of which were going back for warranty-associated things, so had to be packed up all special, and while I was filling out the address form UPS Boy snuck my iPod, poked at it a bit, and next thing I knew there Pearl was, screen glowing happily! I was like "WHAT DID YOU DO?" and he was like "well if you hold this button and this button ..." and I was like "I KNOW THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING A BILLION TIMES SINCE THE AFTERNOON WHEN IT DIED." I'm still mystified. but HAPPY!

and still fighting the urge to go back and leap over the counter and hug the boy to pieces.

YAY IPOD!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain!!

you did it, love. we did it. four months? PSH.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (Northern Exposure: one of those days)
is it ok to cry if I'm losing all the music I've collected in the past 5 years? ... because I really want to. and I really don't want to face a 10-hour laundry day without Pearl.

(ps goddamnit, Apple, send me my confirmation-and-further-instructions email already.)
