keeping Vivs amused after-school coincides pleasantly with NEA's 'Read Across America'.

scanning my e-mail this morning--

I'm on the MoveOn political action mailing list, and yanno, generally good cause stuff and all, but um.

"BREAKING: Bush knew about Katrina threat -- and let it happen!"

...well what was he gonna do, stop it?
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (redcoats)
ok, you know what?

PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS.

that's black lung disease (at least, I think it is; I've never actually looked it up -- mum and I just guessed from the greek and latin bases when I had to give a definition). I chose it for a spelling word in 4th grade.

because antidisestablishmentarianism was easy.

I feel like shit. Still slightly nauseous from this morning, though the ginger ale (for real ginger ale, not that pansy-ass grocery store canned stuff) helped, and now I've got a headache that's making my eyesight pulse. Fuck.

But I got some calc done, and it's just that and my short little English paper for tomorrow. I still have to call US Cellular about my phone's continuing deadness, but that's not going to happen until I can talk without wincing.

here's some enormous and pretty Alex Ross Batman art )

In case you haven't heard directly, I seem to have decided I want to teach middle- or high-school English. I mean, really, I'm seriously happy and content with that revelation/choice. So weird; I think it's the sickness talking.

I'll post a hit of crack later tonight, maybe.

For now, if you'll excuse me I have to finishing pimping BoP to someone and then take a nap.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (bitch because I love you)
1) GIP [livejournal.com profile] yumei_k does the best resources, yo.
(only it's not a *gratuitous* post, technically, but it's content-free enough to be vaguely superfluous. deal)

2) Batman Begins fake DVD content, a.k.a. AWESOME HILARITY, by [livejournal.com profile] revolufantasy -- click it. you want to.

3) LOOK! IT'S DUSTY SPRINGFIELD! *uselessly amused*

that is all.
good night.

thank you for your time.

I may not be back on the LJ circuit yet, but I want to wish a wonderful, happy birthday to my Muse, co-writer, and dear friend [livejournal.com profile] mme_of_achilles.

Darling, may you continue to glow, grow, and be as much of an inspiration to everyone whose life you touch as I've always known you to be. Never lose your spark. We all love you.

Happy birthday!

hey there belles, beaux, & autres choses--

I'm going to be heading out for a bit. sort of. not really 'out' - out; just cutting back on the output (especially fannish) and catching up with my health. I suppose you could call it an "lj hiatus", but I don't really want to, because that sounds severe. and long. and icky.

if you need/want to get in touch with me for any reason, just drop me a line (at m.theunwieldy at Gmail, or in comments here). if it's really urgent (pray god nothing will be), my phone number's nestled in my userinfo.

thanks, babes!

be totally excellent to each other,
remember I love you all to bits,
and never confuse your weregild with your danegeld (at least, not until I get back),

apparently I was wrong. *sprfle* )
'What will you have to write on the chalk board?' at QuizGalaxy.com

this will, in fact, be especially difficult as I have recently determined that I (esp. when combined with friend Kate from last semester's T/Th "penis day" class schedule) am a MAGNET for discussion of sexuality such-and-such in class. WHATEVER CLASS. AND I DON'T START THE DISCUSSIONS, EVER. Kate sometimes does, BUT RARELY.

time to play with the adorable trannie moodtheme, now *g*
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (superman)
wow. it has been a very good day! so far. I:
*had a calc class full of clicky-moments;
*dealt with the necessary mail;
*played with goldfish crackers (this is very important);
*typed up a few more lines of kittenfic (145 words now!);
*sounded clever in Tolkien class ("Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt" -- this is my Thing to Remember this semester (and also a paraphrase));
*ran into Marie in the stairwell and had a roommate moment;
*even chatted for a few minutes with Nicki (next-dorm neighbor) during which I appeared sociable, witty, and accessible and we surfaced plan-ishness to watch Thoroughly Modern Millie together!

and, between coffee and calculus, I was able to put together my Johari and Nohari Windows!

I just think I'm really, really cool right now. and I hope this momentum can continue for the rest of the day, or at least a good part of it, because I have a 5-page anthro paper due tomorrow. D:

hee!

NO, IT'S NOT REALLY SPAM. EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKS THAT WAY.

lemon cake
You're lemon cake! You're zesty and full of life.

You've got wit, and you know how to use it.

You're not afraid of what anyone thinks of

you.

What kind of cake would you be?
brought to you by Quizilla

you see, my dear [livejournal.com profile] elizile made a quizzie!

ok people. I just have one thing to say.

if you're having sex in the next room, I mean, that's fine by me; go for it, but...
you could at least be sorta-kinda quiet, ok? ok. because seriously, your activities do not need to be broadcast to those of us with 8:30 A.M. calculus.

kthxbai.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (attitude)
because I love you all THIS MUCH:

La Oreja de Van Gogh - Pesadilla

happy rocky super-awesome Spanish music. you know you want it.

approximate (i.e. home-made and off the top of my head) translation upon request.

other news (which really only pertains to [livejournal.com profile] mme_of_achilles): I didn't decide to go valentines-day-card-ing until today, so post is not going out till monday, so will be a little late. I am a butthead. we knew this. but I do try! ♥
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (kitten is a showgirl)
ok.
tomorrow I am going to:

-vid
-icon (people! go forth and be active at [livejournal.com profile] bop_stillness!)
-finish at least two calc problems; preferably as many as five
-do pre-writing work on the Donne paper and the Anthro paper
-go to the Keep
-sign up for [livejournal.com profile] xzombiexkittenx's Crossover Ficathon

I might even (but probably won't):

~work on the new layout for this journal
~work on the new layout for [livejournal.com profile] p_braden_update
~seriously do something about making a BoP mood theme

I WILL HOLD TO THIS. HOLD ME TO THIS. I ALMOST NEVER COMPLETE TO-DO LISTS BUT I WILL THIS TIME. I AM JUST THAT DETERMINED.

in other musings, any MSN folks (or, you know, folks who can get MSN messenger-- it's not that hard) -- BoP movie/chat tomorrow? or Sunday? I know, I know, just when you thought you were safe... but seriously. y'thinkin' maybe? I'm thinking I need to crash now.

*crash*
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (glamour)

Which David Bowie are you?

and I got a 95 on yesterday's calc test.

now back to vidding.
it's a good life.

[EDIT: I didn't exactly vid. I found these! it's definitely a good life.]

Title: The Phantom Lady!
Length: 537 words
Rating/Warning: mature sexual content; disturbing content
Note: Somewhere in a small dark place between the book and the movie, this happened. [livejournal.com profile] ima_pseudonym coaxed it out, and I bit and kicked and screamed and fought but it would be written despite my best efforts. I'm so very, very sorry.

'she looks just like her mother with that hair,' they say )

[I... really am sorry. This hurts me more than it hurts you. I promise.]
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (bertie is thoughtful)
regarding today's DVD release announcement.

in which yes, I am something of a spaz, but I think my reasoning is sound, for the most part )

and then musings turned to happier things, such as Colin Firth and Nanny McPhee.
I'm okay.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF COMPLETE TRIVIALITY AND YET OF VAST IMPORTANCE:

barring possible hazelnut, THIS is the best chocolate bar in the world. or, at least, in my experience.

that is to say, it's really, really damned good.
but I have no milk.

...goddamn!

[1]- well, not exactly free, but since it comes with the board plan, it feels free. you know?
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (kitten is a whore)
I uploaded this for someone at [livejournal.com profile] yousendit_ and don't want to let it go to waste. mostly because THIS SONG IS MY CRACK, MY ADDICTION, AND MY GREATEST LOVE. musically speaking. pretty much.

"Sugar Me" -- Lynsey de Paul
***"With her eyeshadow laden and hair again dyed: boy with the swirly, shining hair--could it be Pussy? Methinks it is!--did she perhaps resemble Miss Lynsey de Paul? She certainly did, let there be no doubt! Indeed often swinging her hips while working Piccadilly, to the tune of 'Sugar Me!'--for services rendered, of course!"***
--Breakfast on Pluto, p. 77

you know what, yes, I AM a slut for this book. but as far as I'm concerned, it's with damned good reason. and anyway, the song employs massive amounts of asskickery. go with me on this one.
