OH MY GOD YOU GUYS I JUST HAD THE COOLEST DREAM EVER
I'll try to record everything I can recall.
I was Bruce. the usual theater group blended with a handful of w_c girls had written it while I was sleeping, so I didn't actually know any of my lines. but like, I learned them for each scene while I was offstage, and most of the time I just... winged it, or used common sense, or knew it anyway or something.
so anyway, we had just put it on for fun. In the all-purpose room, but it was actually just on a street at the time and not under the lower school. otherwise everything was the same. Mr. Flagg was the director!! I think Em videotaped. Jared was Scarecrow/Crane. only, for the opening piece, I was also Scarecrow... or at least I did some of the dancing (inspired by
wulingyi's BB live show snip that she posted).
I'm just saying things as I remember them.
Part of the plot was that... there was a door-to-door clothes-and-towels salesman? he showed me (Bruce) a bunch of ... clothes and towels. and while they were out of the box, Scarecrow climbed in. and then was hidden behind the folded stuff when they went back in, because the box looked like a safe. and somehow the fact that he'd hidden in there meant that the next scene was, after a blackout and intermission, Scarecrow and Batman hanging from the cieling so all anyone could see was from the waist ... up? down? to the head. and both of us/them (you know, where it's you but you can see the whole scene) had nooses that went straight down so it looked like we were being hanged... if the whole world were upside-down. and there was a song, a really cool song, but I don't remember what it was except that part of it was a vamp from something that I really think BA's done before but the damned thing always haunts me -- I think it's from one of the middle school G&Ss.
And I played Scarecrow sometimes too, or at least once, because I remember answering a "who are you?" and being afraid that my "scarecrow" wouldn't be low and creepy enough but it was.
And there was also a party scene with fancy dresses, because that's what you do in a BA show, yeah? and no-one put their dresses back on the costume rack and Matic was pissed.
we had two performances. and then after that Sam was using the theater so we wouldn't be able to use it until April (this was March) but someone on IMdB where apparently one could (and did) post off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off- (seven hours later) -off-off-off-Broadway info had said we should run it again and advertize it and maybe take it on the road.
second performance, there was some new stuff, like pear Izze and someone who was apparently (because my dream-brain ID'ed it)
shrieking_ell but looked nothing like her. there was also a Darth Vader but with his helmet off he apparently had an all-black masked head that made people mistake him for Batman and beat the crap out of him (actually the new Vader costume looked pretty damned cool), and the set for that scene included a big cardboard cutout Vader head with the mouth-vent upside-down so it looked like he was smiling.
and there was a showstopper with the fear gas, of course. it was really awesome. oh and it included at the end a solo for me (as Bruce) looking startled and standing center-stage wearing only a sheet and where'd Jonathan aka Scarecrow gone 'cos I swear he'd been right in the bed with me/Bruce. and damn I was a pretty good-looking dude.
and I think bruce committed suicide at the end but I don't remember why and there was an argument about using a lighting gel of the Spanish flag for the last tableau because people said without it the show ended on a happy, balanced note but with it there appeared to be repercussions and emotional consequences and ... yeah.
and I think that's all I remember. or, all that I remember that I can pass along with it still making a teensy bit of sense and not being random words and images.
DAMMIT I WANT TO GO BACK TO MY DREAM.
