"Hey Mel? Is it soda first, or icecream?"
-Vivs, on the topic of root beer floats

the girl is adorable, but sometimes I have to wonder how she'll ever survive.

she discovered 94.1 Madison WJJO while waiting in the van for me to return from nosing around BA, though (I wanted to give the librarian flowers, as she's retiring and I love her), so that was fun. even if she did ditch my Gershwin CD for it :[ (p.s. "Lullaby for Strings" is love)

speaking of CDs, [livejournal.com profile] the_automatik, I got your MP3 mix in the mail today! haven't cracked into it just yet, but I shall very soon.

...whoah. the dog just materialized from amidst the to-be-folded laundry on my bed. wtf? I didn't even know he was in here.

Actually, does it matter which goes first? I mean, it's standard (I think) to put the pop in first, but what if you want the ice cream a little more mixed up in there? It'd be better to pour the pop on top of it then.

Or I could just be crazy. :D

my floats are usually roughly 2 parts root beer (or other fizzy soft drink) to 1 part ice cream, by volume, so/because basically what I do is fill the cup about 1/3 - 1/2 of the way with soda, then add ice cream, then top it off. that way you don't get all ice cream and fizz, which is what happens if you put the ice cream in first. the sticky, unpoppable fizz that happens when you pour the root beer over the ice cream just winds up filling your cup, and that's not fun.

and the fact that by the end of that I had to consciously keep from typing "custard" means that this is actually the method I learned while working at Culver's, therefore making it authoritative. win.

oh my god I am a loser

Well that's fancy. I don't think I've ever made them often enough to come up with a technique, but now I know the proper way to do it. ;)

I like dancing Terry! *pets* Poor Wisconsin. All anyone knows about your state is that apparently there's a lot of cheese there. *shrug*

Bubbler? Really?

dude. I've learned to say "I'm from Milwaukee" instead of "I'm from Wisconsin" because people will go "uh. what's Wisconsin?", and at least Milwaukee gets them to go "OH! beer!"

yes, bubbler. see, 'cause it bubbles... everyone else calls them water fountains -- which no, that's the big wet sculpture pool in the park, or drinking fountains -- which also no, I don't know what that is but it makes most sense as the 'fountain drinks' part of a burger joint, no? so yes, it's a bubbler (http://www.uwm.edu/~iverson/images/bubbler.jpg).

I'm not sure if it's a bonus track or what; I downloaded it with the rest of the songs, and someone mentions it in an amazon.com consumer review, and it fits with the soundtrack easily enough, but isn't mentioned in the official tracklist. I've recently become suspicious that it may have more to do with TAS, but have been too lazy/forgetful to look it up in any way. I don't specifically remember hearing it in the movie, but I could easily be wrong there.
