woah an entry!
Aug. 4th, 2004 05:03 pmHaven't updated in a while, hm? Well... erm... there could be a reason for that, then, couldn't there? Something along the lines of... I have no life?
Went to Pittsburgh. That was an experience... never, ever, EVER go driving in Pittsburgh. If you value your life or your sanity. (At the time, I didn't care much for my life and insanity was a foregone cnclusion, so...) It was a rather amusing run. Cars would come up out of NOWHERE, just to honk at us and disappear again. Same with one way signs --though they didn't honk. I suspect they would have, though, had they been given the opportunity.-- and ... other road signs. Again, no active honking from the roadsigns. Just general flummoxing.
And there was a one way sign, I swear, that pointed DIRECTLY over a cliff. I have a photo of it. There's Pittsburgh hospitality for you, eh?
But while I was there, I fell in LOVE with the hotel TVs. Because every time I was feeling low, there was a lovely movie on. The first night, it was The Mask of Zorro. *ahem* Because Antonio Banderas is an amazing actor, and that's the only reason I wanted to see it of course. Nothing to do with his accent or amazing good looks. Of course. The same goes for the second night, when Desperado was on. And I mean, it was also because I liked OUATIM far too much for my own good, but that's... all. Of course.
And then I saw a -very- well-placed snippet of The Talented Mr. Ripley. (Read: the piano/rehearsal scene with Peter Smith-Kingsley) Which cheered me up immensely and got me through the next day's adventures, which included the left wheels of the van, a broken curb at the rest area, a tow truck, two trains, a blown tire, two bent rims, and the Ohio state troopers. Besides the 11-hour drive home, of course.
Got home, slept, rented TMR, freaked/squeed accordingly...
And in related and intensely more squeeworthy news, I just ordered the Complete Season 1 dvd of Coupling. 4-14 business days, and I'll be lost to the world.
*hugs to all, just because I'm in that sort of a mood*
