all I want for Christmas ...
Dec. 4th, 2007 02:36 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
as promised, WISHLIST!
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
FIRSTLY, please consider:
1) a donation to a charity of your choice
2) a donation to a charity of my choice (American Cancer Society (or your equivalent), Sojourner Truth House or your local equivalent (shelter for battered women and their children), Pine Ridge Reservation) -- all three of these are very close to my heart and I know some children both at Sojourner Truth and Pine Ridge who would love a real Christmas present more than anything.
-- if you send something to any of these programs please drop me a line. I'd love to know and I'll see what I can do as a little "thank you" :) --
SECONDLY, if you want to give me something, I would love:
3) Christmas cards, cookies, goodies, notes, fics, icons, whatever. anything from a friend who is thinking of me :)
4) a new or gently-used (or well-used, so long as they're sanitary and still sturdy; rips & paint stains for example are A-OK!) pair of jeans, size 3-5; my pair tore open up the inseam last month :(
5) a bath puff, or other bath/shower goodies; I don't have a lot of money for girly things these days (fuck college!) but they make me really happy
6) Pirate Organizer -- I really need an organizer next semester and that one is SO CUTE! and PIRATEY!
7) anything else pirate, or boat, or batman. you know I'm easy :)
8) getting into the really wild wishes, a bass guitar. just something that works, that I can pick around on. used, or new, or this one, or anything else on my ActiveMusician wishlist. I was going to ask my parents for the bass as "my one present" deal, but their finances went downhill again, so.
9) a job for Daddy. financially happy parents, not because I think money is important, but because the overwhelming lack of it has put my family through so much stress, and I just want my parents to be happy. the constant stress and strain is very wearing.
10)

LASTLY, eleven:
11) 11 is more of a bonus and reminder than a wish-request, which is why I have no trouble adding it on:
PRAYERS. prayers and happy thoughts for anyone, everyone, the whole world. let's boost the Christmas cheer a little :D
my address will follow in a friendslocked post; if you're reading this and I don't have you friended and you want my address just e-mail me (or comment here with your e-mail) and I'll send it to you :)
IF YOU HAVEN'T TOLD ME YOUR CHRISTMAS WISHES, PLEASE DO!
