Firstly-
The Interview Meme
Contracted from [livejournal.com profile] order_of_chaos

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

1. What is the history of your username?
My actual first name is Melody. My body build is that of Skeletor, for health/metabolism reasons. My sister decided one night to call me Theta (because I'm her math whore), told this to her friend, and the friend decided I should be Meletor, actually. And lo, I am Meletor. The 'et al' is because... my brain is skippy. There are many moods of me.

2. If I asked what your favorite book was, which three would you absolutely refuse to choose between?
Yergh. Nelson's Navy by Brian Lavery, Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, and The Stranger by Albert Camus (one of my goals is to actually read that in French).

3. Do you follow fashions, or lead them, or not?
Not. I wear what's comfortable, and my corset. Or what's clean, and my corset. Or what strikes me as cute and/or interesting, and my corset. I love my corset.

4. Who are you, and who would you be if you could?
I am: overschooled, undermotivated, in love with a girl, born in the wrong century/country, addicted to languages, and completely impossible to live with. If I could, I would be: more mature, more dependable, more responsible, more employed.

5. If you could pick a time-period to visit, or stay in if you wish, (and let's assume while we're at it that you wouldn't die an instant and very messy death) when would it be?
Late 18th - early 19th century. Don't tell me you expected anything different. (Or, possibly, the '20s.)

Bonus question for extra points -- (Will award drabbles on whim and/or request)
6. How many shillings in a stone? (show working)
Not happening. 83? I stopped showing my work when I dropped Calc 2.

7. And why not, may I ask?
Because another lemur just won't fit, damnit!

8. What's the difference between Murtogg and Mullroy?
Mullroy's larger, darker haired, probably older, and a skeptic. Murtogg's smaller (but taller), auburn-haired, with finer features, and a younger mentality. Neither can swim; they both rock my world.

9. When did sodomy first become illegal? (And when and where did it start being legal again?)
Don't feel like looking this up; I used to know.

10. Sword-kink, gun-kink, zombie-kink, pie-kink, or bondage-kink?
Zombie-kink. No question.

And from [livejournal.com profile] cjk1701 as well:
1. Singing. Why? How did you know it was you? :)
I've been raised on it. When I was still rolling around on the floor in Worcester, Massachusetts, my parents were the music ministry for their church. Mum sang, da played guitar, Since then... we've been moderately Von Trappish, and I've grown up with weekly song nights, and singing for each church I've been a part of. I've been in choirs and musicals since kindergarten, and deeply ingrained in me is a great appreciation for music; I can't do anything without it. And since the only instrument I need for singing is myself... (also, participating in choral pieces strikes me on a very deep and very spiritual level, so there's that too). This is one *long* answer... I'm sorry.

2. What was your progression from watching PotC for the first time to being a fan of Norrington and the Navy boys?
I blame Yahoo Chat RP. In my first days, I RPed Jack. Then, there was a room that needed a Norrington. And... it's all downhill from there. I mean... the brocade! The snark! The... futtocks! Once I realized I *could* love it, I couldn't *not*!

3. Do you have similar taste in people IRL as well as in fictional characters? Would you go out or be friends with a Norringon/Sparrow/Gillette/Maturin?
My girlfriend's a Sparrow.
And yes, I would.

4. How did you first get into fandom and fanfic?
Fandom as a whole: Harry Potter was my first fandom, then PotC really got me.
Fic: The late great [livejournal.com profile] webcrowmancer. Her "A Most Accommodating Commodore" was my first slashfic and my first PotC fic, and some of my first fanfic at all, in fact. And like I said in number 2... it was all downhill from there.

5. What/who did you want to be when you were younger?
An actress-ballerina-chemist-painter-mommy named Quentin.
(No, seriously!)

Also. At some point within the next few days I ought to post proof of my poor poor Big Book of Shakespeare, because the binding mutinied on me last night and is now held together with scotch-tape sutures. It's quite a feat. I feel abusive. *shame*

ooooooh me me!

and I loved your singing answer. or rather, I got it - singing in a huge choir is the most amazingly spiritual experience. Last time I did the Verdi Requiem it was like touching God, I hope I do it for the rest of my life.
