So it took me a while to get this (or, well, the not-this) out, but then I realized that it was because I was trying to write the fourth in this drabble bunch thingy, not the third! So then I wrote the third. Still no sesk, but plenty of creepy!Crane.
The bit with the lighter. You know what I'm talking about.
The Bat-Man was just that – a man. It was a man’s body he sculpted into a spelunking, base-jumping, night-stalking tool of citizen justice, and a man’s voice he roughed into a rumble when he spoke. The arms he spread to unfurl man-made wings were the same heavy, mortal ones of a Daedalus, or an Icarus; the barrel-chested body between them, beneath black armor, could curl in on itself and shake the same as any man’s. Though the Bat-Man had no wax to melt, he could still fall, and far. Certainly no-one would take note of his shadow-black legs as he sank into the night, though in the morning they would wonder where he’d gone. Crane wondered, just for one more instant between the impulse and the action, how delicious Batman’s scream would be, or if he might not scream at all.
…Oh, he would scream.
[Yeah for thwonking people over the head with mythology allusions...
*thwonkitythwonk*]

Ok, let's see if I can get IV out tonight as well. If not, I'll do that guano crack piece. Because I sure as hell am not getting to sleep, by now, and I have bats on the brain.
[ETA: I totally forgot to link to this painting, "Landscape with the Fall of Icarus" by Pieter Bruegel (the elder). Lower right-hand corner... that's Icarus. Hopefully the random leg line makes a little more sense now.]

Date: 2005-07-12 06:52 pm (UTC)And implying that the leg was the last to be lost from sight, just kind of led me to think he'd gone head first.. Like falling so fast that you can't possibly land on your feet.
I live for reading into the little details of life.. So while I didn't associate the leg part, with Icarus, I could make it work, anyway.
Still.. Nice painting. :P And, I still love the drabble.

Date: 2005-07-12 09:15 pm (UTC)See, I'm really not much for RPS, and shy away from it on principle (as I'm sure I've said) but... Cillian/Christian is starting to tempt me.
--Eek.
Also, I'm still holding out hope that this ... set of thingies ... will become more than sneakily-implied Wayne/Crane. But if it wants to be dark, edge erotica (which I think it's aspiring to become), I won't stop it.

Love you too!
