themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (Default)
(I am posting while I wait for my next dose of Magic Think-Pill to kick in. that is my excuse.)

so, having found out that I write a lot bigger than I thought I do, or maybe quad graph paper is just funny somehow (which is true), I now have "dude, just freaking work on it until it's done" for the paper. which needs a couple more pages, which is actually good because it means I have room to mess with Act V scene i, which I somehow COMPLETELY FORGOT EXISTED in the whole tallying-shit-up, chart-making, my-mouth-is-full-of-colored-pens-and-I-don't-think-I-can-feel-my-hands-any-more stage. hush. no, actually, I hold that the pronouns there are fairly uninteresting but whatever; I guess I'll find out! also, possibly more mucking with bits of Act III! shiny!

in some strange and twisted sort of celebration, here's an accidental tripped-over link to where mathy shit applied to Shakespeare kind of totally fails! ... I lol'd.

but then again, I'm totally batshit.

things:

richard paper- half typed; due ... .:: checks bare wrist ::. oh, 4 hours ago. FAIL. though you know what, the lab was a huge swarming mass of asshattish last-minute students last night and I've been at class all day and MY WRIST HURTS FROM THIS KEYBOARD SETUP. bitch. also, this paper has made me want to write A-WHOLE-NOTHER PAPER, and I don't think my brain can handle it. for at least a month.

weather- dreary. gross.

hard drive- arrived yesterday! with OS & co. CDs from home! I will install it and stuff maybe Thursday night I think! or sooner!

number theory class- INSANE. WE ARE INSANE. it was awesome. we made fun of Gauss and everything. and I kind of got most of the stuff that was said! and someone said P vs. NP! and I'm a dork!

lj- apparently you can hit enter from the subject line and make your post. at least I think this is the case, because I accidentally hit enter instead of apostrophe when I was typing this subject line and the update page went all: "ERROR! MUST PROVIDE ENTRY TEXT!" but without the capslock or the exclamation points. I added those for emphasis.

I dropped half a chocolate chip cookie in my coffee at lunch. D:

total definite signs of madness:

1) thinking and/or actually talking in blank verse
1b) to yourself, while at work
2) repeatedly telling Richard II that he's stupid, then realizing that you can't actually write that in your paper
3) forgetting that when Bolingbroke whines, "Such is the breath of Kings," Richard does not reply, "Well, duh!"
4) mediating an argument in your head between James, Jack, and Charlie over who should write your paper
5) realizing that Charlie's actually already written part of it, and omgwtf that can't possibly be right
56) posting any/all the above to livejournal

urgh. *headdesk*

ETA: 7) forgetting how to count
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (guh)
so. watching Numb3rs on Innertube. and basically?

DON. SEX. with the ... yeah. um. possibly the best break from obsessive, unrelenting paper-writing EVER, except for the fact that now I'm not sure I'll be able to get back to the Richard II analysis brainspace, because mybrainisjustalittlepuddle.

well, I have the whole rest of the episode to recover, so good luck me.

and even if I DIE, RIGHT NOW, it was maybe worth it. holy hot half-naked FBI agent, Batman. *flail*

ION, my hard drive should arrive on Monday! I may be en route to a return to computerage as soon as next weekend, if all goes well! .:: cheers ::.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (yorick)
still no harddrive.

v. frazzed.

hate math; smell like whiteboard marker; slept three hours last night. BITE ME, phi-function!

hate Sam West and Jamie Bamber; should NOT be trying to make Hal and Hotspur play nice instead of taking notes on E212 lecture. OR POSSIBLY WRITING THAT 10-PAGE ANALYSIS OF RII, I DON'T KNOW.

hate John Ford; still insist he was on huge amounts of crack during production of The Quiet Man. can no longer tell past from present tense, even in own writing.

basically, hate brain.

OTOH, by the time I actually order a new drive and install it and everything else, and get it all up and running, I'll have like EIGHTY (or, ok, a handful of) Numb3rs episodes to watch all marathon-style. o_O

(p.s. this does not mean I've had time to read any flist-age, at all. just that ok, I needed to get this shit OUT of my HEAD so I can WORK D: )
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (Default)
just pretend this fits into the timeline of 3x04, The Mole. also, pretend I looked up and got right all the things that I totally pulled out of my ass.

**Spoilers for The Mole (Numb3rs) and The Cardinal of the Kremlin (Tom Clancy)** )
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (numb3rs: colby badge)
ok guys, fuck that last challenge thing. new plan (though I mean, feel free to play there, or here, or there and here, or whatever, but yeah).

HUGS FOR COLBY!
(because um. I just spent all of German class ignoring modal verbs and going "man, Colby really needs a hug. or eighty." BECAUSE HE DOES, THOUGH.)

so, for the purpose of this quixotic little venture, a hug is anything from 50-500 words, and man you can totally write/link to something longer if you want, but 50-500 is a nice manageable target length I think, and it can be het or slash or gen or fluff or angst or snark or porn or backstory or some combination or pretty much anything, with anyone, as long as it has at its core the Colby-love. somewhere (possibly very deeply hidden, because Colby is, yes, adorable, but also a soldierboy, which is a) why we love him, and b) something that sets him up for a lot of trouble, sometimes). because you know what, Colby Needs A Hug. for serious.

so! post hugs here, please! I am maybe even writing one or several myself! that's what lunch is for, I think! also, here are some free bonus exclamation points for you! --> [!!!!!!!]

ok no, but, really, please humor me (and Colby). even though I'm kinda crazy.

(OT PS - [livejournal.com profile] ian_edgerton girls, I PROMISE I have a picspam/post/apology in the works for tonight. gack. o_o)
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (runaway plotbunny)
I had intended to set up a game of drabble scrabble before I left, but was too busy missing the bus on Friday to follow through. instead, I am now (as the subject line states) issuing a totally spontaneous pan-creative inherently flexible challenge/prompt. it is as follows.

"They say communication is a two-way street, baby, and here I am, standing on the sidewalk."

fanfiction. original fiction. nonfiction, faux-nonfiction. prose, poetry, song. graphic. vid. use the sentence. use part(s) of the sentence. edit the sentence. don't use the sentence. fall back into an old and comfortable place, or try something new and daring. or mess around in the middle. do whatever your little heart desires. damn the consequences.

there is no word limit, no rating limit, no size limit, no time limit.

just go.

leave a comment with your response, a link to your response, your idea(s) for a response, your opinion, and/or anything else you can think of, up to and including -- but not limited to -- your favorite 1930s-era indoor lighting fixture. I? am going to bed.

aff~

so! this Friday, I fly down to Miami for the weekend. very exciting! it means, though, that I have A LOT A LOT to do between now and then, so I'm pretty much backing off of LJ up to and through the trip. I will be back on Monday, October 16! I may be popping my nose in here or there before I leave, but don't expect much activity.

also, suggest text for this icon!

because I can't think of any.

The first five people to respond to this post (and follow instructions,) will get some form of art, created by me. I make no guarantees about quality or type, but I will assure that I will give it good effort and that the art will be individual to you, so if you get a mixed CD or some sort of painting doodle, yours is the only one like it.

The only catch, of course is that to get art-ed you should extend this offer in your own journal as well.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (numb3rs: colby badge)
sometimes, you're working on number theory, and you just have to take a break and type up the ridiculous conversation that David and Colby were having in the back of your head while you were trying to prove Gauss's generalization of Wilson's theorem (which, in case anyone's wondering, I totally can't do).

Dirty Rascals 1.5? The point is that David/Colby is just, like, a fact. )
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (school spirit)
dear lord.

I love theater kids, and they did a wonderful job with Proof (from which I just got back; it was really well done. LOL ELEGANT), but seriously? honestly? frankly?

they can not, any of them, carry the tune of a Kelly Clarkson song to save their lives.

...

also, I'd much rather be writing Colby/Edgerton right now.
.:: continues to blame [livejournal.com profile] phurie_dae ::.

also-also, speaking of Colby, WHERE THE HELL WAS HE THIS WEEK? DUDE. *grabby hands*

also3, my school makes good coffee. you couldn't tell?
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (bitch please)
YOU GUYS.

I don't rec things often. so when I do, it's because there's something I just can't keep to myself, and you've got to see it. I haven't been this excited about a PotC fic for quite some time.

Judgement, a between-movies ficlet about James and His Boat and His Jamieness, by [livejournal.com profile] shrieking_ell.

OMG!
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (numb3rs: charlie pi)
so, today in number theory we encountered primes of the form 2n + 1 -- Fermat primes.

I may, perhaps, detect the faint aroma of Sequel.

themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (numb3rs: boys work)
this is a note to myself so I don't ditz out on burning & mailing the things I need to burn & mail:

-Numb3rsmusik CD for [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain, also including Her Mix if I can finagle the Pearl into giving it up
-S2 eps for [livejournal.com profile] shrieking_ell; you'll get S1 later as in as soon as I can figure out where my ripping/(de-/en-)coding/burning freeware went, and also my diskspace

ok lunch now, and finishing the flashficthing I started writing in Shakespeare and will hopefully finish before number theory so I don't have to finish it during number theory because if I try that things could get extended and messy (where messy = mathy). AND THEY DO THAT ENOUGH ALREADY, THANKS.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (wtf)
is it possible to be wildly productive and an incredible slacker both in the same day? because I think I have been.

today I did not:
  • go to German 101
  • work on number theory
  • wake up before 10:00
  • do my laundry
  • take out the garbage
  • sweep
  • write in any of the WIPs
  • type anything previously written in any of the WIPs
  • write the thing that kinda tapped my shoulder in passing as a response to the [livejournal.com profile] numb3rsflashfic challenge
  • get anywhere even close to caught-up/kept-up/replied-up with the flist
  • make this week's icon set thingy
  • make any of the other graphics I owe people

  • however, I did:
  • program [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain's number into my new phone
  • buy a ticket for the Saturday night (Oct. 7) performance of Proof (OMG EXCITED!)
  • start a lovely blue drawstring bag with lots of shell-stitches and v-stitches
  • crochet while walking
  • talk on the phone while walking
  • listen to Uncertainty Principle while walking
  • walk a lot
  • deposit my last paycheck
  • pick up the alpaca yarn from Purl Diva
  • act like a major brat
  • create an Edgerton fan-community (this is why I should NOT be allowed near livejournal when I'm feeling both creative and bored!)
  • buy scissors and comb for the trimming of hair
  • paint my nails bright-fucking-pink
  • make a temporary ass of myself with html

  • ...and yes. now my brain's gone wandering, so I must end the post.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (mom!)
most crappiest bill ever. and the fucker passed! (latter link via [livejournal.com profile] filkertom's journal, on a tip from [livejournal.com profile] phurie_dae)

I just. who the hell writes this shit? and more importantly, who the hell votes for this shit? because look, I know it's an election year, but since when was that an excuse for senators to act like SCRABBLING CIRCUS ANIMALS WITH HORRIFYINGLY UNIDENTIFIABLE MORALS AND/OR INTEGRITY on the floor?

...oh, wait. that's been going on for a while, now, hasn't it? *facepalm*
(NB: I am generally in support of the whole US government system, when it works or comes close to working [even -- or perhaps especially -- when it defaults to extended periods of Resentful Glares and Thumb-Twiddling between sides]. this is not working.)

mama's going to call me after she finishes at the hospital and we'll brainmash about it (or rather, I'll fly off the handle and she'll calmly and coolly employ her professor-fu to make it so I can actually sleep tonight), and I'll hopefully be more clearheaded after that.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (numb3rs: edgerton snipin)
and all I can say is... not spoilery, not long, but getting a cut anyway )

and so, to conclude, a huge thank-you to our accustomed-to-feature-films producers, because this episode didn't even try to not be messy and imperfect and so human and I love that. and it hurts, but in a good way.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (numb3rs: edgerton snipin)
err. well, since Thursday night is usually crack night 'round these parts...
...and I have no fic to post...

aheh. yeah. really, no good excuse.

also one of Don if that's more your cuppa:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
(though the joke really works best with Edgerton -- and I don't know if I'll EVER stop practically almost saying 'Edrington' and it's driving me UP A WALL. ahem.)

    and the obligatory Don!smile.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

and I have thus also discovered that 2x9 is so very much with the pretty and shall therefore be included in the material to be iconned this weekend.

    however,
    SLEEPS NOW.
