ketamine.
you are ketamine. special, trippy, outgoing and spiritual.

Take the quiz:
what kind of drug are you? (includes pictures)

I am also Dr. Greg House, according to a quiz via [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain.

so, basically, I'm a lot cooler than you.

still haven't managed that CSS thing, though. ew.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (coffee)
fucking exhausted. brain made of putty. going to bed now.

while I'm out, though, do me a favor, if you'd be so kind:
please point me in the direction of your favorite band/album at the moment -- whether it's just a name, or a website link, or miracle of miracles something fabulous like some actual music I can get a hold of. because I'm so going to need something to power me while I'm knee-deep in CSS tomorrow/this weekend/as long as it's going to take for me to get this DAMNED LAYOUT up and running.

thanks, babes.

[ETA: lookit, I woke up! for now.

so, I have two midterms and a problem set due-date tomorrow, and I basically refuse to think about them.

well, okay, I am doing the calculus. but that's not the point.

tomorrow I'm going to see if I can in fact pass the first semester of a course about Tolkien and his calqueing (or, also, not-calqueing) middle-english, middle-ages, middle-earth, and other middly thingies --without actually having any real and lasting knowledge of that whole... Lord of the Rings... thing (seriously. I think it's something chronic). that should be interesting.

poetry on the other hand ought to be a breeze, assuming I can tell the difference between one Wordsworth poem and another. which I can't, actually. oh well.

and lastly, if I don't get myself under control, the next thing I wind up writing will either be ridorkulous reviews/reactions to whatever House episode strikes my fancy, or fanfic. neither of which you want to see (well some crazy folk might claim to want to read the fanfic, but seriously, I can't pull that off), so I'd better just do my stupid homework and write my stupid essays.

thank you all.
and CSS can bite my ass.

[livejournal.com profile] tiggothy, YOUR HANDWRITING IS CRAZY. I AM NOW REGISTERED WITH THE ROYAL MAIL WEBSITE. but, I think I've got the proper address, finally.

I did not watch / am not watching the Oscars. instead, George took me to see Nanny McPhee. which was wonderful, and I highly recommend it... highly. )

also I appear to be making possible headway re: CSS and The Layout. as always, it's one step forward two steps back and then maybe three steps forward again, but hey. (there's also probably a better way to be mucking around elbow-deep in my stylesheet than warping this journal with my trial-and-error, but, so be it. anyone who has a problem with my under-construction journal can sod off, thx)

ooh, that must be my sore throat resurfacing. I'll be off now, to my Fruit Breezers.

[ETA: I realize that my use of a cut tag makes the entry subject pretty useless. whatever.]

the meletor is trying to learn CSS.

scanning my e-mail this morning--

I'm on the MoveOn political action mailing list, and yanno, generally good cause stuff and all, but um.

"BREAKING: Bush knew about Katrina threat -- and let it happen!"

...well what was he gonna do, stop it?

ok, you know what?

PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS.

that's black lung disease (at least, I think it is; I've never actually looked it up -- mum and I just guessed from the greek and latin bases when I had to give a definition). I chose it for a spelling word in 4th grade.

I feel like shit. Still slightly nauseous from this morning, though the ginger ale (for real ginger ale, not that pansy-ass grocery store canned stuff) helped, and now I've got a headache that's making my eyesight pulse. Fuck.

But I got some calc done, and it's just that and my short little English paper for tomorrow. I still have to call US Cellular about my phone's continuing deadness, but that's not going to happen until I can talk without wincing.

here's some enormous and pretty Alex Ross Batman art )

In case you haven't heard directly, I seem to have decided I want to teach middle- or high-school English. I mean, really, I'm seriously happy and content with that revelation/choice. So weird; I think it's the sickness talking.

I'll post a hit of crack later tonight, maybe.

For now, if you'll excuse me I have to finishing pimping BoP to someone and then take a nap.

1) GIP [livejournal.com profile] yumei_k does the best resources, yo.
(only it's not a *gratuitous* post, technically, but it's content-free enough to be vaguely superfluous. deal)

2) Batman Begins fake DVD content, a.k.a. AWESOME HILARITY, by [livejournal.com profile] revolufantasy -- click it. you want to.

3) LOOK! IT'S DUSTY SPRINGFIELD! *uselessly amused*

that is all.
good night.

I may not be back on the LJ circuit yet, but I want to wish a wonderful, happy birthday to my Muse, co-writer, and dear friend [livejournal.com profile] mme_of_achilles.

Darling, may you continue to glow, grow, and be as much of an inspiration to everyone whose life you touch as I've always known you to be. Never lose your spark. We all love you.

Happy birthday!

hey there belles, beaux, & autres choses--

I'm going to be heading out for a bit. sort of. not really 'out' - out; just cutting back on the output (especially fannish) and catching up with my health. I suppose you could call it an "lj hiatus", but I don't really want to, because that sounds severe. and long. and icky.

if you need/want to get in touch with me for any reason, just drop me a line (at m.theunwieldy at Gmail, or in comments here). if it's really urgent (pray god nothing will be), my phone number's nestled in my userinfo.

thanks, babes!

be totally excellent to each other,
remember I love you all to bits,
and never confuse your weregild with your danegeld (at least, not until I get back),

'What will you have to write on the chalk board?' at QuizGalaxy.com

this will, in fact, be especially difficult as I have recently determined that I (esp. when combined with friend Kate from last semester's T/Th "penis day" class schedule) am a MAGNET for discussion of sexuality such-and-such in class. WHATEVER CLASS. AND I DON'T START THE DISCUSSIONS, EVER. Kate sometimes does, BUT RARELY.

time to play with the adorable trannie moodtheme, now *g*

wow. it has been a very good day! so far. I:
*had a calc class full of clicky-moments;
*dealt with the necessary mail;
*played with goldfish crackers (this is very important);
*typed up a few more lines of kittenfic (145 words now!);
*sounded clever in Tolkien class ("Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt" -- this is my Thing to Remember this semester (and also a paraphrase));
*ran into Marie in the stairwell and had a roommate moment;
*even chatted for a few minutes with Nicki (next-dorm neighbor) during which I appeared sociable, witty, and accessible and we surfaced plan-ishness to watch Thoroughly Modern Millie together!

and, between coffee and calculus, I was able to put together my Johari and Nohari Windows!

I just think I'm really, really cool right now. and I hope this momentum can continue for the rest of the day, or at least a good part of it, because I have a 5-page anthro paper due tomorrow. D:
