minor update. also, Warped pictures!
update: I am indeed working at Edible Arrangements in the capacities of customer service/front desk, fruit dipper, and sometimes production assistant. it's a little wild, particularly as I'm still just learning, but I like it. my boss is very gay, lives just down the street from me with his husband (who owns the store) and cats, hates wasting just about anything during the day but doesn't care if we go home with the leftover chocolate-dipped fruit after closing. all in all, it's a pretty good deal.
Warped: was INCREDIBLE, though I look like a shedding alien right now and it HURTS (ugggggggggggggggh Florida sun). it's okay though, because it was TOTALLY WORTH IT and I know my Warped companions aren't much better off (HI GUYS!). (
iceyrica, it still makes me nearly cry that we couldn't work out time together but honestly, I didn't know until the DAY BEFORE that I would even be going. and anyway, I was the asshole wearing a cut-off-the-shoulders 30stm shirt to a tour with AvA, so it's better you weren't even seen with me. D: but I have a JOB NOW, and MONEY AND PHONE SOON, so we will obviously have to be getting together to do something.)
next up are The Hush Sound / The Cab on the 16 August and Leathermouth (LEATHERMOUTH!) with Reggie and the Full Effect on the 20 (p.s. for the Wisconsin ladies if you don't already know - they play the Chicago House of Blues on Sept. 3. BE THERE). also, shenanigation. *BEAMS* I love bandom.
now, some PICTURES! I'm actually really happy with a lot of these, happier than I've ever been with concert shots, because okay
yakkorat has the AMAZING SEXY BLACK TINY CAMERA OF DOOM and it's incredible. I also have three surprisingly awesome-quality videos, two from CS ("Snakes on a Plane" [feat. both William and Travie]/"Hollaback Boy" and "Church of Hot Addiction" [feat. Gabe Saporta's ass]) and one from GCH ("Peace Sign Index Down" from upcoming album The Quilt). if you would like to see any of those videos and/or any of these photos full-sized (which is, I don't know, like 2k pixels wide or something), go ahead and ask me in the comments. I will do my best; you will get them SOME TIME, PROBABLY SOON, but keep in mind that I still don't have anything resembling reliable internet/computer access at this moment.
[the one bad thing about jules' camera is that it doesn't even PRETEND to import photos in the order in which they were taken, so I pretty much just tried to organize these by band/set and what I could remember of the vague order in which things happened (example: We The Kings' Travis Clark and Sisky's cat both made their appearances toward the end of TAI's set). SORRY >O ]

so the first band that we saw (that I took pictures of) was TAI.

shut up, William Beckett's ass is totally a picture worth keeping in the set. I DON'T HEAR ANYONE ARGUING.

there is nothing in this picture that is not AWESOME, including the security dude with the enormous white beard. (I see you there, Butcher!)

that Travis kid (WTK). :D

Sisky's cat. :D :D :D
*****
and then awesome stuff happened that I didn't take pictures of (namely Norma Jean, possibly Dead Legend?), and then we went to see Jack's Mannequin. I took very few pictures here because I was dancing and singing madly and at a very bad angle for photos. WOO!

*****
and then more stuff happened (including but not limited to: heat, Gatorade, various sunscreen attempts, Reel Big Fish, two almost-signings (whatever, we're too damn old for this shit, y? n :( ), Super Soakers, pro-vegan paraphernalia, boobs, Dead Legend) and then we staked out space for Cobra Starship's set. which was ROCK :O

Ryland's pre-show ass. \o/! (though, oh god, the complete inability to consent to wearing pants that fit. IDEK.)

(tbh, Iperved on paid the most attention to Vicky-T pretty much the whole time. which my photos reflect.)

NNRGH.

hahahaha oh god, my obvious crushing let me show you it D:

um, there was something about Ryland being a guitar god and Gabe on his knees? yeah.

this was the part of that where a dude stuck his arm in my face. thx, dude with an arm.

CONFETTI!!! WOO!!!!

it's overrr. if you want more (I KNOW I DO) I'll be putting the videos ("Church of Hot Addiction", "Snakes on a Plane" [w/ William and Travie] into "Hollaback Boy") on youtube (or on ysi/sendspace if someone wants full quality for keeps -- just ask :D).
ETA: videos at the end of the post!
*****
so then I was like, so sick I was gonna die, so we took a break before grabbing a spot for GCH and listening to Say Anything on the adjacent stage. my GCH pictures are total crap, but here you go anyway:

omg Travis your STUPID FACE ♥

LOL OBVIOUSLY THE "FIREWORKS" SETTING DOES NOT WORK FOR CONCERTS D: FAIL

OKAY ENOUGH OF THOSE CRAP-ASS PICTURES. have some videos! the general quality is, uh, well. we were pretty close to the speakers for most of the songs. and, you know, a camera is a camera and youtube is youtube. and also I am physically incapable of standing still and therefore, also, of holding a camera still. BUT GIVEN THAT.
"Church of Hot Addiction"
"Bring It (Snakes on a Plane)" from when William came out and started singing and through into "Hollaback Boy"
most of "Peace Sign Index Down" (still processing as of 8:20 Eastern, will be ready soon)
and of course, you know, around the middle of their set Travie whipped out a Guitar Hero controller and they played Iron Maiden's "The Number of the Beast", which caused a spontaneous mosh. ummmmmmm, it was awesome. \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/
*********
THE END! and now oh my god I have so many dishes to do! possibly I should have woken up before 3 in the afternoon! /o\
(btw, I don't know why you would, but if you want to take or use any of these pictures (or their full-res versions) for any reason, just ask.)

Re: ohgodfail
Date: 2008-07-16 04:47 am (UTC)And that? That is so much trufax, right there. Like, musically? I am all over that, given some of the 80s pop-rock stuff I already dug. But some of their fashion choices . . . just, y'know, THEY may be able to pull it off, but for the rest of us mere mortals. Not so much.
Also, speaking of fashion choices: Death Cab For Cutie shirt as Warped wear, y/n? Taking Back Sunday might be more genre-appropriate, but the only one of theirs I own is black and heavier weight and seriously, in that heat? Yeah, maybe not.
So, I ramble. *nods*
Re: ohgodfail
Date: 2008-07-16 04:55 am (UTC)I would respond more thoroughly to the rest of your comment, but it is 1 in the morning and this is my roommate's laptop and she needs it so she can go to bed. suffice to say, in my opinion the deathcab shirt will be fine; I actually feel like it's best to wear a shirt for a band that's not on the tour because that way you're being musical but it doesn't look like you're there just to see the one set.
*hugs and twirls you* have fun at Warped!!!!!
