Jan. 28th, 2007 11:23 amso, 1) I'm 20. D: D: D: WTF?
2) I'm refusing to let myself read any of the 'fest fics until I've written and submitted mine. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL WORK. my brain's been kind of in Shit Uncreative Land, but I've got to get it out of there. we have work to do!!
3) I found a pair of Kenneth Cole pumps for $5 yesterday at Goodwill. gorgeous condition. too small for my feets, though, so I gave them to mum. this is my stupendous version of retail therapy :D
4) WHAT IS IT WITH THE SITE NAV? I CHOSE THE OLD STYLE WAY BACK WHEN ON PURPOSE!
5) I spent last night creating this awesome house and awesome family (Stoner, who was based off of some cross between trailer trash and a DMB groupie [Pidge's creation, technically]; Sly, the Coolest Dude Ever who was also ambiguously gay and could cook; Larry, who looked more like an albino male ballerina than he did his namesake; and Hat, who accidentally looked like Sharona from Monk -- and they all worked together and kept a clean house even though for a week they had no kitchen sink and had to do the dishes in the bathrooms) in The Sims for Gamecube, and then this morning my brother came down to play and within half an hour made Stoner start a fire that killed himself and then everybody else. DUDE, WHAT?

just got off the train for what feels like the million-billionth time, and BLEURGH.
ici la deal: I'm taking the semester off, and working, because Things Are Complicated &c. I'll be less active, but around somewhat, on LJ, esp. since I do have some ficcish/fannish responsibilities to complete. also, youse guys keep me from getting too sane, and that's important.
oh, and if you think I'm going to try for a full flist catch-up, you can suck it.

( petite rant ahoy )
in conclusion, I know I had a bitchtastic day, but I'd never take that out on Numb3rs, and I didn't. I came to the episode full of joy and excitement and ready to love it just as wildly as ever. thanks for totally disappointing one of your last fans standing, guys!
p.s. give Colby his old sunglasses back.

new layout! um, fannish layout. I am somewhat ambivalent about that, but hey. flowers! and crime tape! and Don's butt! and
__dtrain telling me not to use the colors that looked stupid, and me mostly listening! and Don's butt (because it's worth mentioning again)!

it's still going to be, you know, in flux. I may not be able to survive without a sidebar, for example. so things might still be a little crazy for a few days, but I'm pretty much excited.
AND EXHAUSTED.
(
ofdreamsnbones, if you're still wanting to adopt the old layout then most everything you need should be in the theme layer, which I'll hand over as soon as I'm done tweaking here. because I'm still kind of using it for reference, especially if I'm going to do the sidebar overrides.)

Jan. 3rd, 2007 04:17 pmspicy tomato soup:
make tomato soup to taste (for me, this was Progresso tomato basil soup heated with water and milk and a pinch of salt). add a pinch (4-10 flakes) red pepper. place four cubes Peperoncino cheese in the bottom of a mug. pour hot soup over top to fill mug; stir and enjoy. :D

the family (Vivs, Pidge, parents and I) just got back from The Prestige at the local budget cinema.
IT WAS AWESOME.
I'm gonna go watch it again some time soon; probably make it a double-feature with DMC which is also playing there. woo! and Vivs just popped her head in to inform me of the credits song at the end (Analyse; Thom Yorke), so more with the yay! ... I love how it took me until now to actually clicky-connect him with Radiohead. oops.
HUGH JACKMAN HAS ALIEN ABS. OMG.

so. I got the job! it is basically picking up the grimy, citation-y pieces of all the research this woman's done on her book over the course of fourteen years. and the manuscript's fiftyish pages, but.
she is less organized than I am. (*gasp*)
which is to say, basically, that random surprise bits of the bibliographic info I need are just NOT THERE, so my job is to go find them and then make all the citations happen in an organized and shiny fashion. like magic. .:: wiggles fingers ::.
IOW, AAH, FOOTNOTES!

Dec. 26th, 2006 11:44 pmfeeling very ... erm. transient. s'pose it's the proper way to feel the day after Christmas, but this was a particular kind of transient -- one which I don't usually connect with 12/26. spent the first half of the day listening to Bowie and driving around; chauffering the brother-kid and then trying and failing to find a post-Christmas Christmas present for
__dtrain. then I decided I perhaps felt like writing; tried and failed at that and at eating dinner, so I thought maybe I'd better watch something instead, where "something" equals Tipping the Velvet, which I've read as the novel but never watched the adaptation. so I'm about ... an eighth of the way through part 2 of 3? and there's that.
got a lovely tallship glass paperweight and the Yale Shakespeare (complete works; great big beautiful replacement for my loved-to-death cross-generational Big Black Book of Shakespeare) from the parents, and smelly lotion stuff and chocolates from the aunts and uncles. small Christmas. nice Christmas :)
so there's also that.
also stole a few small boxes for the sending of cookies! :D

Dec. 22nd, 2006 01:41 amthere is nothing, and I definitely mean NOTHING, that is so knee-meltingly, spine-shakingly, pants-wettingly blow-your-hair-back sexy as Rob Morrow reciting lines from Shakespeare.

I'm HOOOME!
I took the bus to Boston and stayed overnight with my mom's friend Cindy, who is AWESOME and has two REALLY HUGE DOGS, and then I took the train to Albany where I had a fucking expensive chicken cesar salad and bought a book of math logic puzzles that I never finished (and ok kind of barely started), and jumped right back on the train to Chicago, and slept kind of a lot and made myself very sore, and then when I got to Milwaukee my mom and I went to right away to see my great-aunt Birdie who's leaving TOMORROW FOR FLORIDA, FOREVER, DAMN YOU FLORIDA WHY DO YOU SNATCH ALL THE AWESOME PEOPLE IN MY LIFE (I have a headache, btw), and then I had peppermint truffle frozen custard and came home and read halfway through my little brother's letter to his little Mexican buddy when my sister came through the door so I had to yell at her and then I had CABBAGE AND MEATBALLS FOR DINNER, YAY and then I hooked up to the internet and watched the Numb3rs inFANity thing and omg it is so awesomedorable (that's a word now, ok) and um I still have a headache so I'm going to crash now until my brother's done watching Bones I can pimp either Northern Exposure or Firefly at him.
OKAY!
and I'll start catching up on things maybe later tonight!
