as we surely know (and as my whiteboard proclaims, after reluctantly erasing the Peter Jackson wants to film Temeraire!!, which also did not terribly want to be erased as it was in regular magic marker because I'm a dorkface), today is INTERNATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!

which is basically just an excuse for me to run around in my tricorn and pajamas, since 'rents didn't mail my boots, thus robbing me of a full costume. and I mean, my pajamas *are* a pair of Captain Morgan sleep pants and a "Pirate Booty: Partying from Fore to Aft, Stem to Stern" t-shirt.

I've already gotten a few odd looks (and some approving thumbs-ups!) opening doors for people at breakfast.

YARR!

also -- HEE, YAY FOR LJ GETTING INTO THE SPIRIT! "Update Captain's Log" INDEED.

so, just earlier this evening, and regarding Don/Charlie WIPs, I had said:
but then again, the [Eppes] boys are like.
you know how Jack and James have this thing where you put them in a room with the thorough intent of porn and they just stand there snarking at each other until like, somebody trips and they land on the bed and fuck?
it's pretty much the same thing, but with wangst and flashbacks.

but then, fortunately -- since I was in MSN chat with [livejournal.com profile] phurie_dae and [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain -- Zorro!Don and Highwayman!Charlie made themselves known.

and lo, there was chatporn. (~1300 words, with some editing-out of tangential conversation) )

I am such a very bad person. .:: buffs nails ::. .:: cites Noyes' The Highwayman ::.

so, deciding to take a break from my two longer and decidedly more serious WIPs (and also from my German homework), I WROTE CRACK. go figure. [livejournal.com profile] __dtrain encouraged me o_o

Title: Wet T-Shirt
Pairing: Don/Charlie
Rating: Rather adult-like for suggestive sexuality, some explicit terms and themes, language
Length: 742 words
Summary: "Yeah, and you said you'd dress like a cheerleader for a whole day."
Warnings: incest, miniskirt, CRACK, unbetaed
Notes: I TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY BLAME ROB MORROW FOR THIS. It's all in the DVD commentary for the pilot episode. He is an evil, evil man. This has absolutely nothing to do with my crack-based neural functions, at all.

( Either Charlie's probability algorithms had been incorrect, or Don had cheated. )
Fake cut goes to my fic LJ. x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs_slash.

so, I've been kind of fringe-internet because OKAY WHAT KIND OF CRAZY PERSON DECIDES TO DIVE HEAD-FIRST INTO NUMBER THEORY AFTER LECTURES HAVE ALREADY BEEN GOING ON FOR A WEEK, AND ALSO I'M THE ONLY NON-MATH MAJOR IN THE CLASS? oh. yeah, me. *vbg* ... *wince*

in a nutshell, though, courses (E212 Shakespeare's History Plays, E264 The Irish Story, G101 Elementary German, M232 Number Theory) are going well and I am going insane. everything's totally right on schedule, yanno?

also, the vegetarian options for dinner tonight suck. and "Braised Beef with Root Vegetables & Blueberry Wine?" really kinda makes me wish I ate red meat D:

I may just nap/read catch-up number theory, hit SuperSnacks early and try to finish, um, SOMETHING (where something = WIP fic, of which I have two, perhaps three, and all were intended to be one-night things).

p.s. - Numb3rs S1 dvds arrived today. Rob Morrow puts evil, bad wrong thoughts in my head. NO SRSLY.

I. just. no. it's just. I can't --

TOO MUCH AWESOME; DOES NOT COMPUTE. BRAIN ASPLODY. OMG.

Peter Jackson wants to adapt Temeraire!

and yes, I know it's old(ish) news by now. but I didn't get to lj until after my 8:30 Shakespeare, so DAMMIT I'M SQUEEING ANYWAY.

A LOT.

eeeeee!
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (calculust)
my tummy hurts. and I didn't sleep. because I'm retarded, and apparently figured it was a better plan to watch assloads of Numb3rs and try to write Numb3rsfic but really just wind up with a Charlie!muse shouting at me, "NO! That's WRONG! dsex/dt should NOT be INCREASING!" ... you know what, shut up; it was like, 4 in the morning.

dsex/dt. what the hell am I on?

ANYWAY-- regarding the assload of icons that I ... actually haven't yet mentioned but here they are, and once more for good measure: assload!

mostly quotes.
some paraphrasing.
two where I sort of got confused about whether calculus was actually calculus or porn.
and one of Charlie in his pi t-shirt.

15 icons! )

I must remember to crosspost this (to people who may actually be interested, perhaps) when I've returned from failing my German vocab quiz. no, seriously, I'm gonna fail -- the only word I can remember is der Tageslichtprojektor, which I bet I just got wrong anyway.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (numb3rs: hot don)
and can I just say something?

David/Colby David/Colby David/Colby David/Colby.

kthx.

Public Service Announcement:

"writing extended segments of story in the past perfect tense" officially falls under the header of really annoying things to do with prose.

ohlord. Pearl nearly gave me a heart attack last night o_o

I was listening to (not watching, 'cos I was dozing off) Numb3rs 1x10 'Dirty Bomb,' and Pearl suddenly went mute, and when I hit the menu button she just froze right up. I reset her a good three times, and each time she just wouldn't play the music or the video (it wasn't just 'Dirty Bomb' with the problem -- I tried two other episodes, and I tried just music).

and the thing is, of course, that if I have to restore the iPod/iTunes software (which is the next step if reset fails), I lose everything, because the Incorrogible's been cleared. that's one of the reasons I have Pearl.

so I reset her one last time and gave her the rest of the night/morning off. now I've hooked her up to the Incorrigible, cleared 'Dirty Bomb,' and unhooked her, and she seems to be happy, at least with music. we'll try video later.

.:: pets Pearl ::.

sincerest apologies to any and all who watch [livejournal.com profile] thexyboombang; as is probably obvious, I spent this evening doing a MAJORLY MASSIVE update. said update was also more for my benefit than anyone else's, since it's all old/informal stuff that I wanted to finally have in one place.

again, my sorries.

[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain is expecting a post. so, ok.

1. House, MD S3 - GOOD new episode. I was a little nervous for a while there, but in the end, GOOD. I approve. AND YES I'M USING THIS ICON ON PURPOSE.

2. Paul Giamatti is John Adams in HBO's March '08 John Adams biopic miniseries!!
[livejournal.com profile] __dtrain: if john adams wrote [the Declaration of Independence], we wouldn't have needed the french.
shooting will take place in Richmond and Williamsburg, VA (whodathunk?).

3. math tackle! )

4. I need to pick a new course in place of ED101, because I didn't make it off the waitlist this semester. blargh.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (I have a brain)
you know that crazy woogly inelegant "mo' betta" Horizon site scheme LJ's been touting? yeah, the one that sucks; d'you know it?

WELL, THANKS TO [livejournal.com profile] xcolibur, WE DON'T HAVE TO TAKE IT!

.:: gleefully returns to the xcolibur scheme ::.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (bring it on)
ok, so it just took skip+340 for me to get to the part of my flist I was at when I went to bed SEVEN HOURS AGO.

needless to say, I'm doing a trim. because you know what, guys, I love you, and I don't like missing or having to rush through your posts. which is what I've been having to do, lately. and that's sad.

I imagine there will be very few personal cuts, of course (though I mean, if you don't comment, and you don't post, and we have nothing in common and no relationship outside of that, I'll probably drop you but you probably won't give an ass rats, come to think of it). I will, however, be dropping a lot of communities from my watch list, so this is where I open a request that if anyone thinks he/she's found something nifty I should check out, don't hesitate to tell me. IM, comment, e-mail, brick through the window, smoke signals -- you know how to find me. BE NOT SHY, FOR I AM, IN ALL HONESTY, QUITE EASY. if a bit of an annoying whore, sometimes :*

love!

Chamberlain Hall, that is -- my dorm.

and the thing is, I know you've probably heard variations on this theme about a thousand times, and I know I don't know very much about plumbing, but isn't red supposed to be for HOT, and blue for COLD?

thank you; that's what I thought.

also on the list of things you've probably heard a thousand times, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin died.

I know I'm a terrible, soulless wretch, but I cannot be the only person who laughed when I heard this.
(then I realized a significant part of my youth had died, leaving millions of already-tasteless-and-now-even-more-so bad jokes and dodgy Australian accents in his wake, and I mourned. in his final act of derring-do, Steve Irwin had tainted us all.)

um, YES.

If there is one or more people on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

ok, yeah, it's a fandom.

Numb3rs, that is. )

wtf.

THIS IS NUTS. IT'S INSANE. I kinda love it. *g*

oh, and by the way, MY younger-sib-prodigy's ART SHOW OPENS TODAY -- her piece is really ridiculously awesome and FUN and I wish I could be there. D:

most recent outcome of the "Get It Right Or Die Trying" method of researching random shit (ridiculously peripheral details) for the sake of other random shit (fiction/tangential essay points/RP/off-the-cuff argument/etc.), this time in the realm of Numb3rs:

OK so what, exactly, gets the L.A. FBI office's attention?

(and on a less heartening note: FBI LA needs a grammar teacher.)

ETA: totally making this a Dump Post for at least the FBI part of Numb3rs--
