themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (omg)
dude you guys, I just made a ridorkulous ASS of myself in calc class.

we had to take a screening test, which is good because my brain was like, "numbers? what the fuck NUMBERS? oh HELL no. and what's this little jaggy thing? and YOU PROMISED I'D NEVER HAVE TO DO ABSOLUTE VALUES AGAIN, BITCH. well fuck that, I'm out of here." and I'm just left sitting there drooling on my pen going 'uhhh... I can give you about six synonyms for "parallel"...' (except I can't, but when the professor was searching for a word in the beginning of class I knew the one he wanted was "ethereal").

stupid brain.

so yeah. now I'm just going to listen to that No Man's Land audio drama until Tolkein class, where I can hopefully not be a complete vegetable.

STUPID BRAIN!

---appendix; a.k.a. proof:--
"The Chicago Board of Trade is one of the most recognized buildings in the Loop," (quote from CAF Tours webpage, picture from Emporis) WHICH IS WHY THE GOOD PEOPLE OF BATMAN BEGINS DECIDED TO SLAP A BIG FAKE W ON IT AND CALL IT FICTIONAL. good call, boys. but seriously, I love it. because it is right fucking there. and so art-deco, therefore so Gotham. promise I'll shut up now.

other than that, things have been ... decent. quite decent indeed. and I like this icon (and its accompanying song *g*).

~conquered skip=460 of catchup (no, I'm not popular, I'm just in too many high-volume communities)

~saw Wayne Tower (I know [livejournal.com profile] xzombiexkittenx has posted about this but DUDE. SAW WAYNE TOWER) and had a lot of other pho* and fun, and disturbing fannish ideas

~went on a Beatles kick, facilitated by ysi_ community -- this also made Kitten happy, which is nice

~spent 30 hours in transit (and I look like I slept on four trains and a bus, I do. shower first thing tomorrow morning for definite -- none of that waiting until I'm actually awake enough not to burn myself and get shampoo in my eyes)

I also sent my cellphone for a swim at Boston South Station, which was a bit of an adventure, but now that he's dried out it looks like he'll be fine after charging. which is good, because the little bugger's my backup alarm clock (I love you, phone!).

now it's time to watch JLU (silly [livejournal.com profile] nataku_chan, you scampered off!) and then listen to Beatles or the NML audio drama or the BBM OST until sleeps. AND WAKE UP EARLY TO FIGURE OUT WHERE/WHAT THE FOOK MY CLASSES ARE TOMORROW.

(it's good to be home, with MY bed and MY pillow -- and my Breakfast on Pluto clippings on the walls *g*)

[ETA: oh, about that asterisk:
*this, of course, being good pho, as opposed to Bowdoin pho, which is a grody silly thing that makes me queasy. but that's okay because the rest of their food rocks; good pho would just explode the awesome.]

[ETA2: dude, you guys! check this out! audio drama of Batman: No Man's Land. some fanfreakingTASTIC voice acting. *is so into it*]

"Mel, here's what I say...
People? Suck. People suck. But then, there are some people, who don't suck. And you want to think about those people, and forget the people who suck.
And, I bet you've got lots of people online who think you are the bee's rollerskates.
...
And that's what I've got to say.
Ooh, anti-lock brakes!"

-Sis

You are the people who don't suck. I love you.

WHOAH.

holy beans, man. GENIUS. I want one for every book in my library.
My Man Jeeves! The Importance of Being Earnest! P&P! oooee!
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (iloveyou kitten)
really, I should very much be packing. last time I checked my clothes were still in the dryer, though, so.

tomorrow morning I catch the train to go stay with [livejournal.com profile] gambling_pirate for a few days (FLIST AMNESTY!), and from there it's straight to school arriving at 10pm the night before classes start (incidentally also the day before my lovely, lovely (WHAT WAS I THINKING?) 8:30 A.M. differential calculus class. oh god.

today I dyed my hair (again, but with real permanent dye this time!), bought "violet vamp" nailpolish because Kitten made me do it, painted my nails with said "violet vamp" while watching the Globes ([livejournal.com profile] ima_pseudonym! it's a fad!), did laundry, and

found notification for an anonymous gift of 6 months paid LJ and icon space in my inbox.

ok, there are only two people to whom I remember mentioning the impending poof of my paid status and icons. therefore, barring strange mystery stalkers, I KNOW WHO YOU ARE. maybe. SOMETHING VAGUELY NEAR TO A 50% CHANCE. since I find "omg, show yourself" stupidly annoying, kittenfic is for you. everybody like kittenfic. you try it, you like it, you live many happy day, I stop talking like that lady from the New China Buffet down the street (gods packing is going to be impossible if my brain doesn't jack back in soon).

whoever you are, THANK YOU. you've made a very, very happy girl.

in conclusion, I will be around until vaguely tennish tomorrow morning, and then I don't know what internetitude will be like and anyway PIRATE! so I am going to be occupied. will try to check in. do ring me if you need anything; my number's in that entry from late August.

[ETA re: the Golden Globes and P&P3-- EMMA! SWEETIE! DON'T SAY THESE THINGS; YOU KNOW THEY'RE NOT TRUE!]

[ETA2: bwee hee. picked up (*coughcough*downloaded) the Woodstock 1970 recording last night and am currently giving da a heart attack with it. But Daddy! Stop telling me stories while I'm trying to pack!]
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (ikitten)
so then I realized, of course I should have one of the iKitten icons uploaded, duh.

yes, I'm a little slow sometimes.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (school spirit)
spent tonight finalizing trip-home (i.e. back to Bowdoin) plans, drinking cold tea, forgetting to eat, and watching Les Girls with Pidge. we both nearly exploded during the lead-in to 'Why Am I So Gone (About That Gal)?', pointing and squeaking: "That's the one!" ...oh boy, we're pathetic. but it was late, and it was fun, and I'll set up my laptop downstairs and snatch the audio tomorrow.

I also made icons: 6 BoP, no bases )

A Very Scary Story )

And then I went to the Amtrak station at the airport; failed at getting tickets; went with Mum and a lemon meringue pie over to my great-aunt's to celebrate all three of our birthdays at once; discussed Foucault, current political sexual viewpoints, and interior decorating; told her the clapper-switch for her light was on crack (she laughed hysterically); discussed BoP with Mum all the way back (and all the way there, actually, as she'd immediately answered my 'you know how everyone had imaginary friends when they were little and I never did? well I appear to have a few now' with: 'Kitten?', which, am I that obvious in RL? guess so); played GAMEUUUBE!! with Pidge (007-AUF and Soul Calibur II both with the game music off and the BoP playlist going instead); watched Velvet Goldmine (again with Pidge, who said, upon reading the opening credits with 'Ewan McGregor' ... 'Christian Bale', "Why do you always do this?" ("Do what?") "FIND ALL THE AWESOME MOVIES?! ... AND THEY ALL HAVE MAKEUP!"); came upstairs and made ravioli and went to bed.

Those last three words are speculation.

NIGHT!
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (irish eyes)
anyone else who noticed a few shots where Cillian looked... weird, as in, eyebrow issues, &c -- he'd just come off BoP.

Sayeth the filmmakers:
-Cillian had been playing a transvestite
-Yeah.
-And had lost a lot of weight.
-And had plucked eyebrows.
-Yeah. So there's a couple of shots, ok, throughout the film, well if you noticed, that were, I guess, done earlier in production where you can see that his eyebrows are perhaps a little thinner than you might like them.
-Yes, yes.

BWEE HEE!

so his eyebrows change size. like, between shots, within scenes. they really do! I caught it already a few times in the checkin line! I wasn't imagining things!

and I love the pretty Cillian, but, with that character, bearing, hair, &c. ...
IT LOOKS FUCKED.

I love it.
*is going to watch very carefully for eyebrow issues now*

MY TUMMY HURTS! could be the cornichons and cold roast lamb for dinner-at-midnight, comethink. OR JUST THAT MY TUMMY HATES ME, which we already knew.

Kitten told me a(nother) story.

I seriously feel, like, sick.

Dog apparently likes lamb, but spurns mint jelly.

I SLEPT UNTIL 10 PM.
WHAT IS GOING ON?
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (say what?)
I call Bullshit.
(link to CNET News, "Create an e-annoyance, go to jail")

no, seriously. the hell?
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (jonathan crane worst muse ever 2)
...

I blame Kitten for the fact that I just made a late dinner out of ice cream and leftover New Years Eve appetizers. Also for my spinning around on tip-toes in the kitchen.

OTOH, at least I'm eating. This is said to be good.

(but I really must get to sleep if I am to be up before 2 pm -- to watch Smallville with Pidge and then to bake Mum her ginger-triple-chocolate birthday cake [in exchange for which she is letting me drag her to Breakfast on Pluto tomorrow night -- ulterior motives!].)
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (lovesong)

WIG WAM BAM, INSTANT BREAKFAST ON PLUTO MOVIE JOKE!

(except not)
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (breakfast on pluto)
dual FYIs--

first, I succeeded in reaching the theater for the 7:00 showing, and do have stuff to say about BoP, but that's a post-in-progress, in a tab... over there .::points up and over::. so.

secondly, I will be seeing Brokeback Mountain, but not until some time in probably February. because that's when it's playing at the cinema near school.

*shrug* neither one of those was a very important thing to say.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (say what?)
Dear City of Milwaukee:

YOU FAIL AT ROAD WORK.

NO, SRSLY.

No love AT ALL,
Mel

(trying for the 7:00 showing, k)
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (breakfast on pluto)
as in, way too excited to sleep. parental units are taking care of picking the kids up for school, so I can go catch Breakfast on Pluto at 4:15! I'm going to get there all early, like a dork, and it will be a vague replay of the Kingdom of Heaven episode where the ticket seller eventually said, "piss off! we won't sell until 15 minutes before the show!" which is actually pretty stupid except it was of course the last day KoH was playing, like, anywhere so it makes sense because who was going to see it except [livejournal.com profile] xzombiexkittenx and myself? (the answer, if you're curious, is 'a small handful of people')

so now I'm up and writing two different crack fics at the same time and feeling something that's probably hunger but I don't want to eat, so I'm going to take a shower and think about crack fic #2, because I've had crack fic #1 plotted out since July, and...

I had hoped to have the kittenfic finished so I could post it in glee and celebration, but I haven't written any of it since the night I started, and um now every time I look at it I go "omg tomorrow afternoon!! eee!" and get thoroughly distracted.

*inhale, exhale* ok.

OH WAIT.
[livejournal.com profile] shrieking_ell, I am sorry I did not get back in time; as soon as I got home I had to turn around and go back for Pidge, who according to the calendar had fencing practice after school but was injured so couldn't hold his foil and didn't realize this until he had already gotten to practice and tried to hold his foil.

the tie is black. because it would have to be either black or white, or possibly red, and white would look awful but come to think of it a nice dark red would be... hm. actually. red with some sort of black pattern, possibly.

ETA: why do I never look this pretty? and I'm a girl to begin with! )
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (perky)
[livejournal.com profile] silverjet747 is home.
BoP opens in Milwaukee ... technically, TOMORROW!
I have eaten many M&Ms.
And still not finished writing kittenfic.
Check out the 5 newly-minted icons in my userpics! (they make me happy and a little bit proud)
And [livejournal.com profile] mme_of_achilles, I have recently (as in half an hour ago) finished reading your story, but my brain is not tacking the words together to respond to it. Which should be no surprise, given my outstanding propensity for failure and distraction.

therefore, convo-ness in which I am SO NUTS )
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (fun)
EDIT:

well, that was whiny and unnecessary.

"wangsty," ffr, has something to do with angst and wank and whine and ... *shrug* it's like angst plus. or something. I don't get angsty, because it annoys me, so I go straight to being annoyed at myself which makes it wangsty. k.

still, Breakfast on Pluto Friday! so excited.

and in other news, what is with this DCcomics/AoS overlap? it's beginning to frighten me. mostly because I'm a strange bird who gets too much into demographic analysis... but yes. o.O?
