does anyone else here use stock.xchng (www.sxc.hu)?

if so, is it being retarded for you, too?

.::runs around in circles::.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (christmas shopping)
so now I think I've got everyone who's requested an icon so far up on the list.

and the problem with Bowdoin's "Sweet Italian Sausage & Kale Soup" is that it's too damned good and I can't wait long enough to not burn my tongue. *grimace* but yummy.

and who wants the end song from the 28 Days Later soundtrack? Vivs found it last night and sent it to me because we're both such dorks for it and, let's face it, I have a great sister.

and now time to work on icons. distracts me from the waking-up issues. and the burnt tongue.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (xmas bash)
so ok. this morning was retarded. but that's past.

I came back to a bunch of Mannheim Steamroller from [livejournal.com profile] obi_wansgirl and omg happy.

and Marie's decorated her room with lights and a Christmas tree and tomorrow we're having a Christmas party and I'm supplying the music so a huge THANK YOU to everyone generous and kind (that means all of you) who's been supplying me!

and [livejournal.com profile] gambling_pirate and I just finished making plans for me to stay with her for a week at the end of winter break. GOD I AM A HAPPY LITTLE WIDGET.

this means I have the option of a day in Chicago (well, until 3pm) on the 10th January, which could be fun. any takers?

and I once again didn't put together the candies/cookies address poll thingee, wups to the nth degree.

check out [livejournal.com profile] shrieking_ell's wonderful Nightwing-y Robins-are-tragic Christmas batficlet. eee.

Here's the list of Christmas icon requests so far:
check beneath the cut to make sure I got it right )

If you're not on the list, and you want to be, you can still hop on over and make a request!

one more thing:
[Poll #628636]

and that is all. thank you.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (bad parenting - castaway)
I finally got my ass in gear and installed firefox this morning. and dear lord I really think I'm in love. I mean, seriouly. tabbed browsers. it's like it WORKS the way I THINK.

[livejournal.com profile] nyarinquentas sent me Mannheim Steamroller. the one Christmas album of theirs I've not heard, bweehee. but seriously, I'd still sell souls, first-borns, and sexual favors for anything from A Fresh Aire Christmas, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, or Christmas in the Aire. Hopefully mum and her CD-ripping dad-nagging skills will come through. and in case I have somehow made it unclear, [livejournal.com profile] nyarinquentas IS THE BESTEST! (possibly matched for bestestness with [livejournal.com profile] mllereddeath and her Christmas Oratorio upload which I await with bated breath and poke her idly to get on with so I can rock out to tympani and the soprano line. I'm so selfish)

I'm also content, and in a lull between schoolwork rushes, and looking at what may even be a full night's sleep, assuming I don't roll over onto any yummy bruises.

I'll put up a christmas cookies/candies whowantssome post tomorrow.
Somebody nag me, please (about said post, tomorrow). Y've got my IM, a bunch of y'all, and I know the ones that do are very good naggers.

(also, stupid meletor, GET YOUR VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS ICON UPLOADED. you suck.)
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (bad parenting)
So, we moved a lot of furniture today, and I basically got my ass kicked by my roommate's bed. )

And I kind of wish the people I beat up in stories were as big of weenies as I am (not wrt pain tolerance, because I've got lots of that -- I wouldn't have slowed down a bit for the bruised nerve if it weren't for the fact that it was making me dizzy -- but more wrt the fact that I have a wimpy body. I'm tough, but that's more sheer stubborness than strength) because then I'd have good writing fodder here.

...although...Jonathan's got a similar body type... *brainderail*
-----

George took me to see P&P3 tonight. Also gave me free (as in he paid for) comics this afternoon -- Batman #647 and Gotham Knights #71, the two I was ever-so-anxious to see. He's a good one. I like him.
-----

Vivs is hopefully going to snag me the BA concert cd. With some very key begging, I may also get some Manheim Steamroller from the family library. Which would be nice, because I MISS IT TO THE POINT OF TEARS.
-----

If you haven't yet, get thine ass over here and request an icon!
-----

[ETA: lookie lookie I modded my layout! the santa hat looks a billion kinds of retarded. but I do like the header, teeheehee]
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (holiday pirate)
so, some may remember from last year the CHRISTMAS ICON REQUEST THINGEE!

I do. it was fun. i'mma do it again, k.

so here's the deal:

open to: everyone. don't even have to be on my flist. but, you know, it'd be nice if I knew you from somewhere or another.
starting: now! asap! let's get this show on the road!
ending: I'll probably stop taking requests a few days before Christmas. that way I can get all the icons out before the Big Day.
here's what you do:
reply here. give me a character, person, critter, image, idea, WHATNOT (if I don't think I can do it with what you've given me I'll tell you); and a Christmas carol/Christmassy song. you don't have to actually -give- me the song, just the title, but I'd be HAPPY to be given mp3s... my Christmas music is so not much now that I'm away from house, WI and also not in the BA Christmas Concert. it's sad. (songs I really really miss are listed at the bottom of the post)
here's what I do:
make the icon. post it... somewhere; find you and direct you to it. it is then yours. you are not obliged to share it.

ON THAT NOTE, LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT THE ICON PERSONALIZED (your name, nickname, or username on it) OR NOT. or if there's other, non-Christmas-song-text you want, instead of (or in addition to) the Christmas song text. I'll probably say ok, especially if I like you, but I reserve the right to say no, nope, nuh-uh, and/or no fucking way.

please request; it was a blast; I'd like to do it again

examples from last year are here. they belong to [livejournal.com profile] jenlan, [livejournal.com profile] captain_molly, [livejournal.com profile] drbillbongo, [livejournal.com profile] kingsleygirl, [livejournal.com profile] silverjet747, [livejournal.com profile] daughtermestizo, and [livejournal.com profile] elizile. therefore look but don't touch.

ASK AWAY! and fandom, any person, any thingee, whatever. let's do it!

<3s,
Mel

**songs I really wish I had: Christmas Waltz, Christians Be Joyful (Bach Christmas chorale dealie -- I miss it SO HARD), Adeste Fideles, excerpts from Handel's Messiah, Hard Candy Christmas, Tender Tennesee Christmas, Need A Little Christmas, Silver Bells, White Christmas with the whole intro, You're a Mean One Mister Grinch, I Don't Remember Christmas, 'Twas The Night Before Christmas, Carol of the Bells, Noel Nouvelet, Jesu Bambino, Patapan, ANYTHING ELSE WE'VE DONE AT BROOKFIELD ACADEMY CONCERTS (like I'm thinking I would kill for even junk off the CDs). omg please... it is sad how much I really want to hear this stuff. I MISS IT! --also Manheim Steamroller I would snog you for.**
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (dr maturin's school of dance)
...or, I think I got that rather right... it's completely from memory. *coughcough* ANYWAY.

LET'S TALK ABOUT 18th CENTURY (NAVAL) MEDICINE!
'cause that's one of the things I have been so not able to ferret out.

any pointers? my Fantastic Historical Geekery Kim Wilson Links List is mostly early 19th century. and I? I'm thinking... pirates.

I'm also thinking zombies, and ye olde brain troubles. *slight cackle*

If I find anything useful, myself, I'll stick it up here, too.

thxyall!

GOSH-DARNED EVANGELICAL STUPIDHEADS!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

Dear Disco Pigs,

WHAT the fuck are you ON?

I love you.

Much grinning and grimacing,

(and now it's time for me to do my Women in Religion reading)
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (wtf)
this review brought to you by tropical starbursts, nantucket nectars raspberry-lime fizz, and the first eleven and a half minutes of Disco Pigs:

fucking weird.
charming, but fucking weird.

charming.

and also what the fuck.

that is all.

[ETA: 34 minutes in - what a strange, odd little movie. very queer.]
[ETA2: 55:49 - I have this song. At least this one, if not a few of the others. weird...]

hmmmwhat?

*blink* *blink*

...I dozed off somewhere in the behind-the-scenes featurette for Kinsey, and woke up very confused. Still trying to shake the feeling.

Oh, I'm also cold.

--damned good movie, though.

(will definitely wait on watching Disco Pigs until tomorrow)
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (school spirit)
things learned at 4:30 in the morning:

& it's Mel-falling-over day (or two)
& [livejournal.com profile] shrieking_ell bakes really good cookies
& unplugging one's clock does not facilitate remembering to go to a film noir screening
& Bach is really, really awesome
& [livejournal.com profile] feedtrevor wins at vidding and I am, in fact, an ass (or at least should learn to shut my trap when I'm sleepy and stupid which is most of the time)
& ADHD > Meletor
& ...have I mentioned the cookies?

(*heart*)

oh ok while I remember:
anyone who's going to want a christmas candies/baked goods package, please leave your address and food allergies/preferences in ....... a post that is not this one.

I'll see this later and remember to make that post. probably. and it shall be screened. and all that good stuff.

the things we do for love )

...and now my soup is cold. and also the mail room continues to be backlogged. and also... that's about it.

(I'd like to thank WinMediaPlayer for the ironic playlist/post setup)

uhm... VID.

also, if you have not downloaded SOAD-y goodness from my previous post, FREAKING DO IT.

seriously. if the link doesn't work, I'll reupload.

k I have class now.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (breakfast on pluto)
I'm telling you guys, Vicinity of Obscenity (banana banana banana banana terra cotta banana terra cotta terra cotta PIE!) is a freaking addictive song. I will post it up for y'all, as soon as I can be bugged to.

So, I hope everyone who celebrates it had a great Thanksgiving. Myself, nothing much, just quiet and R&R and it snowed which made me obscenely happy. SNOW! As in, the sort that accumulates! There's at least an inch out there! *happy noises*

My Black Friday to-do list (that's what I have instead of going shopping, y'see) is about 3/4 done -- I made-almost-completed a layout (which is still waiting for [livejournal.com profile] johanirae's ok), caught up on a bunch of reading, vacuumed the dorm, and found a box of Kashi Natural Ranch all-natural whole-grain crackers. That last thing wasn't on my list, but it is a good thing. Got a few more things to check off, and then I'll probably just cuddle up with Breakfast on Pluto -- Vivs reawakened my urge to read it when I was busily pimping it to her the other night -- and listen to Christmas music/Spanish pop/System Of A Down until I fall asleep some time between... 5 and 7. I'm trying to tone it back down at least a little before classes start back up, despite the fact that outside of said classes I am roughly incapable of waking up and staying awake if what I really want is to go back to bed.

And, that is all.
Hasta luego.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (all your flist)
Meletor (For God's sake, nobody wants African blood!): ok it is TOTALLY time for me to make an icon that says "Frank ate my comment notification"
Tigg:
bah. evil goat. give him devil horns & have him munching a piece of paper...
Meletor (For God's sake, nobody wants African blood!):
I will.

You're not the only one! 14 icons feel the same way! )

yes, icons 10 and 12 are the same thing. suck it up.

please comment and credit [livejournal.com profile] meletor_et_al if taking, and do not alter. any other permutation(s) you want, I can toss up. I just... was getting lost in keeping the ones I had done straight. clearly.

Frank, as we know, is LJ's and not mine.
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (batman - freudian slip)
...there are some times when I second-guess my habit of typing the first song line I hear as I start the update for my entry title...

anyway. we love SOAD, yes we do.

SO. good things:

~Vivs sent me the .zip of Hypnotize, System Of A Down's new album. much love. see? see how much love? I don't think it's quite as outstanding as Mezmerize, which I adore, but it's very, very good.

~iconned; made two icons of the Cranky Old Ninja. I do still have to make the "Sith Lord" one, but I don't want to tonight. so when that one's done they'll all go up for grabs.

not so good things:

~did you know the store-where-I-don't-have-to-use-real-money closed at 5 today? yeah neither did I. gonna have to steal bagels at breakfast and lunch, and stockpile them. YAY.

~I don't know if the mail desk is open tomorrow. I hope hope hope it is, reallyreally. but... GAH. DAMMIT, THANKSGIVING, WHY DON'T YOU PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE? I bite my thumb at you.

neutral things having to do with crack:

Title: not Champagne (oh come on. I'm not putting real effort into picking a title!)
Canon, Plot, Sense: yeah, right
Length: damned sight longer than I thought it was gonna be
Mature for adult m/m sexual content
direct continuation of "Champagne Taste"; same cracked-up timeline as that and "Champagne"

[livejournal.com profile] shrieking_ell gets AT LEAST half the blame.

Dick started swearing to himself as he left the auditorium and got on his bike )

there will be another SMALL piece, direct companion to Ell's one, but I haven't written it yet.

THAT IS ALL!
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (logic)
...so this is the sort of thing that happens when I'm bored. and anxious. for no good reason. and need to do something, and miss having a constant project...

OUTTAKES!

I decided to actually start this at about... 9 something? this evening.

anyway. Batman Begins. They Might Be Giants. total joke of a thing. .wmv, approx 10 MB on YSI
here

...I really need to sleep, for the sake of civilization. I'm a menace to society!

(oh could someone remind me to buy food for the weekend tomorrow? 'cause if I don't I'm not eating. o__O; and I know BLOODY WELL that I'm going to forget)

...dude I just totally love this song. it was our warm-up on the 2k3 mission trip, and I had NOT been able to find it since, and then Pidge did and I was like OMFG. and then... and then I haphazardly vidded it. YAYZ!

[ETA: by "outtakes" I mean unused footage from the temvid. o__O hi Mel might want to say these things. ooh I'm retarded, no?]
themeletor: close-up of a cupcake in the grass against a blue sky (navee)
Yep. Still fangirl.* And I've got the poster to prove it (HUGE points to George).

...so, raise your hand if "Hallelujah" still makes you cry, or at least sniffle.
oh and also if you know where I can find that vid again.

me, I'm taking a nap.

*those who actually doubted this are now welcome to take a long walk off a short pier, with my blessing
