I blame Kitten for the fact that I just made a late dinner out of ice cream and leftover New Years Eve appetizers. Also for my spinning around on tip-toes in the kitchen.

OTOH, at least I'm eating. This is said to be good.



(but I really must get to sleep if I am to be up before 2 pm -- to watch Smallville with Pidge and then to bake Mum her ginger-triple-chocolate birthday cake [in exchange for which she is letting me drag her to Breakfast on Pluto tomorrow night -- ulterior motives!].)

dual FYIs--

first, I succeeded in reaching the theater for the 7:00 showing, and do have stuff to say about BoP, but that's a post-in-progress, in a tab... over there .::points up and over::. so.

secondly, I will be seeing Brokeback Mountain, but not until some time in probably February. because that's when it's playing at the cinema near school.


*shrug* neither one of those was a very important thing to say.

as in, way too excited to sleep. parental units are taking care of picking the kids up for school, so I can go catch Breakfast on Pluto at 4:15! I'm going to get there all early, like a dork, and it will be a vague replay of the Kingdom of Heaven episode where the ticket seller eventually said, "piss off! we won't sell until 15 minutes before the show!" which is actually pretty stupid except it was of course the last day KoH was playing, like, anywhere so it makes sense because who was going to see it except xzombiexkittenx and myself? (the answer, if you're curious, is 'a small handful of people')

so now I'm up and writing two different crack fics at the same time and feeling something that's probably hunger but I don't want to eat, so I'm going to take a shower and think about crack fic #2, because I've had crack fic #1 plotted out since July, and...

I had hoped to have the kittenfic finished so I could post it in glee and celebration, but I haven't written any of it since the night I started, and um now every time I look at it I go "omg tomorrow afternoon!! eee!" and get thoroughly distracted.

shrieking_ell, I am sorry I did not get back in time; as soon as I got home I had to turn around and go back for Pidge, who according to the calendar had fencing practice after school but was injured so couldn't hold his foil and didn't realize this until he had already gotten to practice and tried to hold his foil.

the tie is black. because it would have to be either black or white, or possibly red, and white would look awful but come to think of it a nice dark red would be... hm. actually. red with some sort of black pattern, possibly.

goddammit I FINISHED VIDDING THAT, so why is it still in my head? bleurgh.

called work. they said they'd call me if someone ditched and they could find hours for me... damn. but I have the credit card app here for filling out, which is good. not that I'm going to use a credit card and get myself into debt with it &c -- it's a secured credit card, and also I'm not going to use it, really, at all, and it's mostly just to have a line of credit so I can do the whole student loan thing more severely.

ANYWAY. today I am not only going to finish writing the kittenfic, but also .:: points at dvd stack ::. WATCH PIRATES. because I was retarded and left it at home TWICE (once in August, once in October), and now I have it and really need to watch it. and I found my Lost Disc!!! which had been seriously and ironically lost. ...bedrooms will do that, you know. now it's Batman Begins that I've lost. GO ME! *faceplant*

and hopefully I'll get some book-reading done. and some household stuff to make up for the lack of hotel hours because I do feel like shit about that. and... a nap.

okay! sounds like a plan!

So far today I've:

-woken up.
-eaten a grilled cheese sandwich.
-did I go out today? I don't remember.
-prepared a tray of ovenish appetizers for the boys (Pidge and Da).
-readied a turkey to go in the oven.
-put turkey in oven.
-managed turkey in oven.
(we like this fixed oven development!)
-attempted a nap.
-jumped up out of said nap just as I was nodding off to bash out 100 words or so of Pygmalion.
-and now I've just been informed I'm starting to turn blue.

WTF?

Last night I dreamt I went to see Breakfast on Pluto. It was a highly strange dream. I'll say no more.

Some time around early December/late OctoberNOVEMBER, I was lying in bed staring up at the ceiling thinking nothing in particular when this idea hit me:

"I SHOULD VID TO BJORK!"

...apparently for sheer merit of COMPLETE INSANITY. Mel smokes the good crack, she does.

So then, you know, I shared this with phurie_dae, who had to enable me, and send me these Bjork mp3s, and be all supportive and helpful and beautifully nitpicky and GOD DAMN, I DID IT (eventually and with much wailing and gnashing of teeth). There's something Most Wrong with my head. .::falls right over::.

I want to thank everyone who's sent me Christmas snail-mail, which, I'm not going to name names, because you know who you are. I'm more grateful than I could ever possibly say; you've made this less-than-easy holiday very special. I mean that.

Our oven is fixed as of this afternoon; I'm going to be starting the baking tomorrow.

I'm a little dazed, but that's nothing new. Somehow wound up with presents (mercifully slight ones) despite my late November request that they all be returned -- most were bought on super-duper clearance (see $3.00 Batman tee) and therefore couldn't be. Returned, that is.

Christmas Eve party last night was probably one of the best we've had; the kids (who took a separate car so we could leave early if Vivs or Pidge started to get cranky) actually wound up staying a couple hours after the parents left (mum's eye was being a bitch). We (the nuclear family: me, Pidge, Vivs, and the parents) have a history of sort of being the outsiders at these family affairs, but recently things have been changing. Some compromises and reaching out from both sides. It's good.

There's a whole score of ridiculous and very amusing stuff that I've missed while being away from this brood and I think I'll just keep to myself, and. Merry Christmas.
